RMweb Premium jjb1970 Posted May 3 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 3 E-commerce in Japan is strange. Many shops won't sell to foreign countries but those that do tend to offer stellar service.

Jim Martin
Can anyone comment on the various shipping options that they offer? I was thinking of ordering some tools that I can't find in stock anywhere in the UK from them, and the quoted shipping costs are: Japan Post (Economy Air) JPY1,596 Japan Post (Standard Air Registered) JPY2,079 FedEx (FedEx International Priority) JPY3,755 Japan Post (EMS Express) JPY3,938 UPS (UPS Worldwide Express® Saver) JPY4,395 The "Economy Air" option comes to about £8, give or take. I'm thinking about how much difference there is in delivery times: the stuff I'm looking at isn't time critical, but I'd rather not be waiting around for ages. Thanks Jim
Ben B
I love Plaza Japan, there's almost too many nice things on there. I've been buying odd bits of the Rokuhan shorty Z stuff for a fun, mini layout I'm doing. My youngest (who's really into manga and anime) uses it too for the figures and collectables. 1

Yep... last shop I did, I needed some track and a power controller. I didn't NEED a model kit of the Fireflash from Thunderbirds, or a kit for the Golden Pavillion, but it didn't stop me adding them to the basket ;) Edited June 27 by Ben B 2

RMweb Premium jjb1970 Posted June 27 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 27 For crazy plastic kits try the Girls und Panzer line which combine WW2 tanks with figures of manga style young ladies. The kits are a spin off of an animmation series about school girls battling eachother in WW2 tanks. Yes it really is that bonkers.

I must admit, two of my kids are into anime, and when they're describing the plots, my mind tends to drift a little. I do try and take an interest, but comments like "he has a curse on him where he's a talking panda this series" pretty much sums it up :) I managed to get Elder Child into an awesome series I watched as a kid in the 1980's, "Starfleet X-Bomber", which is essentially an anime but done as a love-letter to Gerry Anderson. Awesome miniatures action, decent puppetry, ammusingly cheesy dialogue, and everything explodes gratuituosly whilst characters drop like flies!
