As this is detrimental for visitors, layouts and traders. I can assure organising a model railway exhibition small or large is not a easy task. Chris M Posted April 4 Author Share Posted April 4 Everything is progressing well with the Warley at Statfold show. It has been rather quiet of late but that is because a lot of behind the scenes work has been going on and lots of details have had to be discussed. I can say that invitations to layouts, trade exhibitors and demonstrators will go out within the next week. Having seen some of the work done so far I have to say I am rather excited about it, but then I might be a tad biased. 😉 In the meantime I have to tell you Warley club has a new Facebook page. What was wrong with the old one? Well a couple of years ago a rather large cock up was made, not by me though. Anyway we ended up with a Facebook page that we could write to but nobody had full control over so new posters could not be added and ex-posters could not be deleted. After trying to contact Facebook we gave up and created a new Facebook page. You will find the new FB page at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61558041900591 . Please press follow on this page - you know you want to. Chris M Posted May 22 Author Share Posted May 22 (edited) I am pleased to announce that we are "all systems go" for Warley at Statfold. Over 25 layouts and 25 trade stands will attending together with some demonstrators and model railway society stands. The full details are yet to be confirmed but I can assure you that layouts will be listed here when they are confirmed. It looks like there will be a great range of layouts and some interesting trade stands. It is planned that some of the demonstrator stands will be hands on. Speaking personally I am very excited about being involved at a show at this venue. It is quite a magical place. The buildings are all pretty much clean and new and the engine shed houses the largest collection of narrow gauge locos in the country. Narrow gauge is not my favourite subject but I can't help but love seeing this collection. There will be free train rides on the narrow gauge railways for all show visitors. This really is an excellent place for families, there is also a soft play area there. There is free parking on hardstanding for 1,000 cars at the venue and there will be a free bus service to and from Tamworth station. Numbers of visitors will be much smaller than the NEC so it is planned to be a very relaxed and enjoyable show. Tickets will be on sale by tomorrow from the Stafold Barn website - https://www.statfold.com/warleymodelrailwayshow .Those of you who don't like buying tickets online can phone Statfold and speak to a real person to buy tickets, their number is 01827830389. This was always our intention and being on the same weekend as GETS means the big ones are all busy elsewhere anyway. A list of trade exhibitors will be presented within the next week or so. We will also reveal the layouts. I'm speaking out of turn and way beyond my authority here but it would be great to have young Mr Bullock's Abbotswood and Norton Junctions layout at Statfold in 2025. It is being built by some idiot who keeps posting on here and was never intended to be an exhibition layout. It should be quite pretty when finished. Cwm Bach is a peculiar shape at 12ft 10ins long but only 7 inches deep. Passenger train entering the as yet un-named halt. Yes I would say this I really do like the Statfold Barn venue. I exhibited my old layout there in April and I loved everything about it. So much more relaxed than the NEC, nice new buildings, easy parking, friendly smiley staff, reasonably priced food and as many narrow gauge train rides as you like. Even though I am much more interested in standard gauge than narrow it is really interesting to have a look around the Statfold Barn collection of narrow gauge locos. While I wish BRM every success with their NEC show I am glad that Warley club decided to go for something smaller and much more manageable for a club to organise. 2 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
