RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted July 25 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 25 One last look at Isinglass, just a few yards further on, and accelaerating under clear signals. Meanwhile as the Leeds coaches pass by, the K2 waits patiently for its turn.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted July 26 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 26 Now it is the turn of the K2 to get moving, and our man gets it in close up as it passes slowly by. Within a minute, there is more action, as another V2 comes into view with a South Sheilds and Stockton- KX , which will not stop. Green Arrow will have taken over at Grantham. 34 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted July 27 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 27 (edited) Something new! We are used to photos taken through the arch, but this one is taken from further along, through the exit door from Platform 6. looks like a new coat of whitewash has just been applied to the walls on the left, while the old Midland Railway booking office on the right is long gone. Soon afterwards, 60800 is about to emerge into daylight again. Edited July 27 by great northern spelling 37 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted July 28 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 28 Well, that left one entrance through which the camera had not been pointed, so that had to be put right. Here's the view through the not very palatial main entrance. The A4 can just about be seen, and that bloke woudn't get out of the way. Then I wondered whether I had cropped it too much, so here's the original as well.
RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted July 28 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 28 I think the pics got reversed. What is clearly the crop works much better, not least by eliminating much of the barrel-distortion in the full frame. 1
RMweb Premium juke Posted July 28 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 28 I like the second pic best. The figure is very fine and worth the larger shot. The loco is much more visible too. I hadn't noticed the barrel distortion until Ian pointed it out! Syd

Something to do with the ruts made by rolling many barrels of beer? I'm embarrassed now.... Kind regards, 30368

There are two principal types - barrel, as here, where the line curves away from the centre of the pic, and pincushion, where it curves in towards the centre. Neither is desirable where architectural or vehicular subjects are concerned. Imagine a loco with a boiler other than straight! 2

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted July 28 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 28 Back in the daylight, Silver Fox runs on past the parcels trollies and the puzzled porter. I wondered if I had caused a little camera shake on this one, so I took another. The first one was OK, so I just did a heavier crop with the second.

It were that Dudders geezer who said about straight boilers, well Sir Nige's N-gins didn't have straight boilers, well them A3s and V2s didn't. I I tried my bestest not to be rude about the funny shaped boilers on the Great Western. They weren't straight in fact they were a bit queer looking. 10
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted July 29 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 29 Last two shots of Silver Fox, coming onto the last bit of the dogs leg..... and running under the massive bulk of Crescent Bridge. It has quite a list. Good morning Jonathan, The fat bloke has left the bog! The carriage in question (which I built) is now straight and level. Less than a five minute fix; it's a Trice/Hornby conversion and the body had been pushed down too far on one side after a Kadee coupling had been fitted, it would seem. Regards, Tony. RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted July 30 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 30 Here's that longer view from Platform 6 again. I do like this, and it has the added advantage of not being too tedious to photoshop. That's it for this morning though, as I forgot to process any more. I will try to do better next time.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted July 30 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 30 Back to full rations this evening. As Wolf of Badenoch heads on southwards... another load of Little Barford empties appears by Crescent Junction box. For some reason, on Saturdays there was one full load to the power station, but two empties coming north. It looks as though the 04/8 has stopped, probably to get a telling off for having no rear lamps displayed. How it managed to get this far without being pulled up, I do not know. Actually, I was in a hurry to get some photos taken while there was a bit of useful light.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted July 31 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 31 Up on to the east side of Crescent Bridge now, for a couple more views of the 04/8. Our chap wasn't too happy with that, so he moved back a bit, and saw this, which was more to his liking.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted July 31 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 31 Leaving the 04/8 to make its slow way to the inevitable stop signal, we go to the north end, and find D11 Marne arriving with a terminating service from Skegness. Immingham has definitely run out of B1s. Then quickly back to the south as a chime whistle announces the arrival of Wild Swan with the 1252 KX-Leeds.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted August 1 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted August 1 Another bonus shot, with four locos in view. The pilots, as usual, are waiting for thecall to do something, while the D11 and A4 are both slowing for a stop here. and here is Wild Swan again, during its four minute wait. 29
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted August 1 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted August 1 The D11 is also at rest, but will sson be required to get its stock out of the way. Wild Swan has had its four minutes rest, and now passes the 04 as it heads north. 29
