Just passing through, Diamond Jubilee with the 7.50 Up Leeds.

 

Today I have been pondering. Where do I go from here?  Station Road is nearly finished, so what next? Any ideas?

The N5 has had a gentle run down to Nene sidings to collect the stock for the 1033 slow to KX. In the bay a V2 waits to back on. It isn't the rostered engine, nor even a New England engine, but the rostered A2/2 failed, so this March engine was collared for a trip to KX.

The A2 really did fail by the way. A short circuit somewhere, and I couldn't find what was causing it.

 

As the V2 backs on, Woolwinder comes through with the Norseman, prototypically with no headboard.

Does this half building ever irritate you ?  I could get Peter to do the other half, but then I have to fit in two more tracks to run into it. I can do that, but then have to connect them to the rest of the layout.

That would I think have to be done by turning this point into a three way.

However, that would in reality be a nonsense, as the only destinations are other dead end sidings. They would not be used anyway, so operationally that doesn't matter, but is it quite a lot of work and disruption out of proportion to what is visually achieved? After all, there is another lower relief building not far to the left, and I can't do anything about that one.

Up on the bridge again.

and from further on, and approaching the next bridge. While photoshopping this it occurred to me that another reason for focusing more on the vastly improved south end is that there are no lattices down there.

I have never even noticed that shed model is a half building until you pointed it out! I suggest leaving it alone.

Probably best to leave it alone Gilbert, as we discussed on Monday, it would be a lot of work  for not much gain.

Part of the reason may be that I usually crop to the end of it.😉

No; even in the flesh Gilbert. I'd keep it as is, would it give any operational benefit?

It has to stop somewhere,otherwise before you know it you've modelled half of Peterborough and you've demolished all the internal walls in your home.

Up on Spital Bridge, despite the lattices.

and of course from up here it is the cut off behind the hotel that catches the eye, not the shed, which can hardly be seen.

 

Next we have a Class C parcels for KX. Edward Thompson has to detour around the slow, as the V2 is still occupying the only other Up road.

It would still be 2ft 6 Clive. The front door is 3ft, and you get through that with a bit to spare, so you'd be alright. I won't suggest going on a diet.🙄

None at all. I'd just use it as a bit more loose stock storage. It just niggles at me. As in this shot down the forecourt too.

It just looks what it is, incomplete. However, I've taken on board that everyone who has expressed a view thinks I should leave well alone.

On goes 60500, another shot from the bridge. It is going to be hard to drag me away from here.

and from ground level we can watch as it blocks the main lines on its way back to the Up. Should be allowed to use the Up main though, as it will be the stopper following on behind.

ET and CofN have really captured the look of the prototype.

The 1033 is still at Platform 2, so this 9F must also trudge round the slow.

After which our lovely D16 can bring the shuttle up from East.

The 9F has now reached the bridge, and can cross back to the Up.

This was supposed to loom at you, but it didn't.

 

A few minutes pass, the 1033 has left, and so the Little Barford coal can use the main. A borrowed 04/8 once again.

A local from Louth now arrives. Should be a DMU, but the driver refused to take it as he doesn't like fiddling with those destination thingies, which none of his passengers read anyway.

A little later we have a crowded scene at the south end.

Commonwealth of Australia runs through with the Elizabethan, the A5 is waiting to shunt its stock. and we have a B17 in the bay waiting to take over the Birmingham-Ely.

After it had left, the A5 ran round its stock, and put it into bay platform 5, to await its return duty up the E.Lincs.

Truly great weathering on the bunker and tank side of the A5, and I should say really good use of the light in this image. Mr Robinson's locomotives look so impressive with a very strong family identity.

Ivatt now in number 4 bay with a Yarmouth Beach train, while the A5 rests alongside.

The Birmingham-Ely is next in, and the Stanier tank will come off here.

Zoom again, just about works.

Knight of Thistle is taking the 9.40 Newcastle as far as its home town, Grantham.

Tonight we have more of 60065 on its way north.
