Silver Link, no less, today. Well David, as you know I am pretty restrained in what I allow to run on PN. I take the view though that a straitjacket is an unhealthy form of restraint, and so when Accurascale do an appropriate model it will appear on PN despite the fact that the only evidence I have for them appearing anywhere but in the shed yard is one image showing what might be the rear of one on the Nene bridge. What's more it is likely to be 68599, which was Lincoln Central pilot, and to my knowledge never got anywhere near PN. A psychiatrist might I suppose be interested in the fact that I will sanction that, but putting the wrong number on one of these first models announced would be totally unacceptable to me. 68535 was at Dundee, which is only up the road from Haymarket, after all.😉 New England had 68635, also with Scottish modifications, but alas with differences too significant for me to ignore. Unrecorded temporary transfer to 64B David, you know it makes sense.😈 Hi Gilbert I can find no reason to dispute what you say. I think at the end of the day it will come down to how good the model looks and it does look exceptional from what I have seen so far and also one of those must have decisions or stick to the prototype. By the way Silver Link looks superb. Regards David Edited March 18, 2023 by landscapes Spelling

stewartingram
I'll have to look to see if any J67-J69 were shedded at PBO East, that would be an easy trip into North....

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted March 18, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 18, 2023 Silver Link at rest, not as far down the platform as we are used to seeing, because of the relatively short train. and on the way out, in close up mode.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted March 19, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 19, 2023 Peter Leyland on his way, so more Station Road development later, and I must get on with things. RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted March 19, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 19, 2023 A very productive day, but no trains ran, and no more photos were taken, so there is just one more shot of 60144 tonight as it made its way towards Spital Bridge. I'll do some more shots of Station Road progess in the morning, as things moved along pretty quickly.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted March 20, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 20, 2023 Image store nearly empty, and it is rather dark and wet here, so I only have one photo for you this morning, which shows a J6 running in with that parcels train which starts at New England, reverses into number 1 bay and stays there for quite a while, and then goes down to East.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted March 20, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 20, 2023 More shots of progress down Station Road. I'll start at the far end, and with what seems to have been the most up market house. Peter and I have been wondering how to deal with the void under the bridge girder, not helped by the fact that I haven't found a single image showing the area. OS maps show that on the other side of the bridge the area was occupied by building frontages, and in the end we reckoned that those buildings used the area under the bridge for some purpose, as often happened with viaducts. Well, they wouldn't want wind and weather coming in from the other end, would they? And neither would the likely to be slightly posh home occupier want to be gazing at the interior. So we decreed that the whole thing was filled in using the same blue brick. I have also decreed that the owner, or his wife, or both were keen gardeners,, and that will show up even more as time goes on, when that last vestige of grey board will disappear. There is a passage between his house and the terraces, and it looked a bit bare and uninteresting to me, so a kind lady has agreed to carry her bucket along it. Phil painted quite a few figures for me, bless him, and places are now being found for them to stand. Next come the terraces, and what looks like a communal front garden. You've already seen that the occupiers of the two on the left have no interest at all in maintaining it, but the other four, perhaps remembering digging for victory during WW2, have decided to grow some vegetables. They left a strip of grass to prevent weed encroachment, and then planted potatoes. I found some very nice looking stuff via Google, but as usual didn't read things thoroughly. Having naively thought they came complete, I found that were in fact very small kits, and the instructions are in German. I managed the thirty potato plants in the end, but a package of cabbages cauliflowers broccoli etc was beyond me. Peter managed to make some in the end, but even he found them so tiny as to be very difficult to deal with. They look very impressive though, and he will be tackling the rest next time he comes. Carrots too. A look down the road from above... and from ground level. The flowers I bought look so good that almost all the residents have been keen to have some, and they do bring a welcome splash of colour into what can be a rather grey environment. More to come later. 39

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted March 21, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 21, 2023 The second early morning KX-Grantham now appears, a very easy job for a double chimney A3. RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted March 21, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 21, 2023 It is incredible how those Houses and Gardens and that enhanced area, totally transform the views, especially such as that looking at the Parcels sitting in the Bay. Inspirational. Phil 2 10

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted March 22, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 22, 2023 The last two of Station road, for now. Someone's gate fell orf. Unhinged, perhaps? Then to a corner of the hotel garden, where someone has planted lavender. Don't they know it doesn't like shade? How will it cope under trees? It will all end in tears, you know. 40 1 1
