RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted January 5, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 5, 2023 A short period of GE heaven now, because in addition to the B12 we have a D16 in the carriage siding, with the stock of the 5.13 to March. The passengers in the Norseman can now also admire the D16, if they wish, as Lord Faringdon comes through with the Up train. No headboard, but that was almost always the case, so any cynics who think I've lost it can think again. 36 1

The B17 appreciation society can get quite nasty at times, if stirred up. 1 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted January 5, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 5, 2023 We follow Lord Faringdon as it lurches across the pointwork at the end of the curve. and have another look from the far side of the bridge.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted January 6, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 6, 2023 One last look at Lord Faringdon. and by way of something different, a panoramic view to the North, with nothing actually moving. It seemed to be telling me that it would be better in black and white too. Strange how little things can make a big difference. It is the wagons on the left that tie the whole thing together and make this work for me. 31
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted January 6, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 6, 2023 Just three minutes after the departure of the relief, D201 brings in the main train, the 3.08 Newcastle, which also stops here, but for just four minutes. and just as D201 is due to leave, another Cambridge B12 arrives with a Saturdays only service from Norwich. 32
RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted January 6, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 6, 2023 That last shot really shows how much the houses have improved that view - looks great. Plus a B12 and the N5- yummy. 2
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted January 7, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 7, 2023 Another shot taking advantage of the extended bridge and Station Road backdrop. I haven't got the B12 in quite the right position though. We switch to the north end, and take another look at D201, while making sure that the Claud is also in shot.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted January 7, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 7, 2023 Well, I liked that view, so I did it again from the opposite end. and again, from somewhat further away. 33 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted January 8, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 8, 2023 While we are here, we might as well have a look from the bridge. Then it was time for the Grimsby to depart, and of course that had to pass the Claud as well. I spent quite a long time when designing the sequence trying to find paths for the ECS of these locals, and discovered that sometimes they must have been brought in quite a long time before they were due for departure, and that was what happened with both of these services. There are two more Up expresses to come before the Claud can move forward and pick up passengers. 31 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted January 8, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 8, 2023 Assuming things are running to time, only two minutes pass after the departure of the Grimsby before the next express comes onto view. Doncaster A3 Tagalie has the 3.18 KX-Leeds. This was the first time I had tried this angle since the extension, and it is vastly improved, in my view, at least. This view benefits too. 29
RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted January 8, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 8, 2023 I often mention I like the clutter that railway seem to generate, and the addition of the rooftops and chimneys just adds to the whole ambiance so much even though the houses themselves are not really visible in these views. These new backgrounds are certainly floating my boat. Well done to Mr G Train and Gilbert! 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted January 9, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 9, 2023 Close up of a beautifully cleaned B12. We haven't seen the nice lady in the spotted dress for a while, but she's still here, observing Tagalie as it slows for the stop. 32
RMweb Premium great northern Posted January 9, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 9, 2023 A small cloud has appeared over Peterborough North.😟 Recently rather strange things have started to occur when I'm operating, which made me wonder if there might be a problem with my DCC equipment. In the end I have contacted NCE in the USA, who responded very promptly, and asked the age of my control stuff, which apparently has an expected life span of about 20 years. Now my immediate thought was that I haven't had my NCE for anything like that long, but when I checked back in my diaries I found that it was installed 19 years ago. Oh dear. It owes me nothing after that length of service, and I would be happy to replace it, even though that will mean a lot of reprogramming. However, NCE do not keep stocks in hand, and because of the worldwide problems with electronics the cupboard is bare. There is none in the UK either. So, I have to get an order in , and wait till NCE are able to make some more. In the meantime, I just hope the small cloud does not get any bigger. 1

When did you last change the battery in the command station (and, if you are using wireless throttles, the batteries in the throttles themselves)? RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted January 9, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 9, 2023 That set off a train of thought - my Lenz DCC is a bit aged, taking off my socks to enable over 10 numbers to be calculated brings a result that also needed Mrs NHN fingers, it's 24 years old at best guess. Maybe a year or two older. Cripes.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted January 9, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 9, 2023 You are seeing photos taken last Monday, a lovely sunny day, and I wonder if you have been able to see the difference? Unfortunately an occasional bit of watery sunshine is all there has been since, so its back to one image per session again. You do get two locos though, as it is 60064's turn to be seen with the Claud.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted January 10, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 10, 2023 Next to be allowed to be seen in the same shot as the Claud is newly ex works A4 Falcon, with the 2.10 Leeds-KX. 35
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted January 10, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 10, 2023 (edited) An awful day here, so as expected no addition to the image store, and just one to show you tonight. Falcon now gleaming under the roof. Edited January 10, 2023 by great northern add photo.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted January 11, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 11, 2023 Falcon now just moving away, which means we get to see more of a Thompson brake than we do of the Loco. Nice background though. Sunny here, but by the time the light gets to where I need it we are apparently in for yet more heavy rain, so maybe no new photos again. 23
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted January 11, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 11, 2023 i got my act together sufficiently this morning to both get my daily walk and an hour and a half running session done before the rain returned. Thus, I now have 21 more images to process, which should keep us going for a while. Here then is a bonus shot of Falcon from the bridge. 23

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted January 12, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 12, 2023 The Scotch Goods appears, on the slow line again, having had to give way to the 3.18 Leeds. A little further along, the identity of the A4 is revealed, Andrew K Mc Cosh again. Well you weren't expecting Kingfisher, were you? I wonder if a Scottish engine ever did work the Scotch Goods?
