Woodcock29
So many lovely designs to choose from. D7 for me as there is one being built. It was also the first of the MSLR 4-4-0 designs and I look forward to seeing it one day. Andrew

RMweb Premium great northern Posted February 19, 2021 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 19, 2021 The M S &L was a bit niche, I think. Only 7 votes cast, 2 each for N5 F2 and D7. Today we consider the Great Eastern Railway.

RMweb Premium 3rd Rail Exile Posted February 19, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 19, 2021 Another area I'm not "up to speed" on, but a Wikipedia search shows a few classes of loco I like the look of, so I'll vote for the G15 class. I spent a year working out of Wisbech (and staying in Outwell), but at the time didn't really appreciate the railway history of the area...

sandra
As we are voting for locomotives that haven’t been preserved I’ll have to go for a Claud Hamilton. I’m not sure what the LNER classification for these was, D15?

RMweb Gold jollysmart Posted February 19, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 19, 2021 (edited) Claud Hamilton today's choice a lovely looking locomotive and once the largest express engine on the GER, a railway I know a bit more about. Happily a new one is under the early part of construction. https://www.claudhamiltonlocomotivegroup.co.uk Edited February 19, 2021 by jollysmart Senility

mullie
I know about this one! D15 for me too, they were still working into the early 50s. So many to choose from, the 2-4-2 tanks ran a close second. Seeing them along side central line stock at Epping always made for an interesting photo. RMweb Premium Metropolitan H Posted February 19, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 19, 2021 Having seen the correction regarding D16/3 locos, my vote goes for the - Superheated version of the Belpaire boilered 4-4-0 "Claud Hamilton" types that became LNER class D15. The Decopod was an interesting big tank loco, but not really a success (Too big / heavy) - hence the "Claud" gets the vote. Regards Chris H
RMweb Gold Worsdell forever Posted February 19, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 19, 2021 On 18/02/2021 at 07:19, St Enodoc said: Quite possibly, Alan. I had in mind something like this lovely model by Paul Gallon @Worsdell forever of this parish... ...but I now find that one has in fact been preserved: https://collection.sciencemuseumgroup.org.uk/objects/co205734/ner-0-6-0-1001-class-steam-locomotive-and-tender-no-1275-1874-steam-locomotive so I'll have to think of something else. A closer look at the 1001. Only 1275 made it to the LNER so never got a J classification, and it only managed a few more months service before being withdrawn and put back (cosmetically) to something resembling as built condition although it still had a Worsdell boiler. And here's 1275 in 1925 4 1
