At last enough sun for the water lilies to open fully. Then I thought the Peruvian lily looked rather good too. and down the other end of the garden, so did this lily too.

Meanwhile, the 1118 KX-Hull is arriving at Platform 3, where it will stop for only two minutes.

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted June 27 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 27 The 1118 from KX is bound for Hull, but Doncaster will go no further than Doncaster. Though it is named Doncaster, it is shedded at KX. All perfectly clear, I hope? Actually, it will probably come off at Grantham, but that would not be anywhere near as interesting. 25

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted June 29 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 29 Another experiment. Light wasn't good, and couldn't get the colour balance right, but I'll leave it to you as to whether it was worth sharing. Back out into the light, and a shot showing at least part of the load behind the tender. This should be a 13 coach formation on a Saturday, but I managed to misread slightly, and put 14 on. 60065 is a standard Hornby loco, no added weight, but it handled the load without a problem, even on the curves. There isn't much kit built stock involved, but even so I think that is quite impressive.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted June 29 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 29 Oh all right then. 60065 from Spital Bridge. And on the Up, yet another A3. This isn't deliberate, just the way the sequence turns out. Robert the Devil this time, another KX engine. This is another Up Leeds.

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted June 30 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 30 In August 1958, PN suddenly suffered an extremely localised short period of very high winds. The effects can be seen as 60110 passes North box, which has had its roof dislodged, One of the spotters has been taken unawares and blown off his feet too, but I'm sure he will be all right. I'm sure the repair gang will be along shortly, and the little chappie will be helped to his feet, and consoled with a small bar of chocolate. Despite its rickety condition though, the overall roof seems to have remained intact. 25 4

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted June 30 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 30 A sigh of relief, as we head off down the other end, where strangely there is no evidence of "wind damage". 60110 heads straight through. Then an A4 appears with a KX-Newcastle, which is stopping. But why is it heading into Platform 6? And why is it booked to stop for ten minutes?
