61143 again, fireman no doubt getting as much steam up as possible for the trip to London.

This is heavily cropped, so the photographer was not actually standing in a suicidal position. I do concern myself with such things, occasionally. 

 

The distinctly shabby theme is now broken with the appearance of another V2, and the 1028 KX-Scarborough. 60803 is a March engine, legitimately borrowed for the weekend by Top Shed.

 

March had only five V2s, the shed's only main line engines, and they were well looked after and kept clean. I saw this one many times at Lincoln, and it was always immaculate. In fairness, contrast that with New England which had over thirty of them, a considerably different proposition for cleaning purposes.

a wider angle than I usually use, and showing more of the bridge. The next one though is the well used shot with Station Road as the backdrop.

On goes 60803, and we can see that something is signalled on the Up.

which turns out to be another E.Lincs service, this one originating from Cleethorpes, as does the weekday train. One of Immingham's better B1s is required for this train.

after which it shares the screen with the V2 again.

Another year negotiated, and next month the layout will have done the same. I reckon it is just about finished, but you never know. Any ideas as to how it could be further enhanced? Two more photos starring the same locos this morning, taken on a day when there was just about enough light, and with exposures of up to five seconds, so they are a bit ragged in places.

 

The V2 is just pulling away, as the Cleethorpes pulls in.

and soon afterwards the V2 is gone, and the B1 is simmering at the south end.

V2s are popular. Photos taken from Spital Bridge are popular. So, why not put the two together?

or what about V2 in close up? That should be another safe bet.

Afraid I have to say the double chimneys enhanced the A3's in my view, bringing a more modern look to them.  Now a rare double chimney V2 is pure perfection...😉

Still no light at the time of day when I need it, so back to one image again, but two locos to look at. 61098 is still stationary, while newly ex works 60514 brings in the 1040 KX-Newcastle. From this , we can deduce that the V2 with the Scarborough was running a few minutes late.

Yet another dark and dingy day, when will it end?  A continuation of rationing sees the same two locomotives, but from ground level, and the reverse angle.

Early sun already hidden behind darkening clouds again. The weather seems to be well and truly stuck. Chamossaire is not stuck, it is merely waiting for the end of its six minute scheduled stop. I always feel that name should have an extra i in it.

Back to our man on the other side of Crescent Bridge, who captures the departure of the Cleethorpes.

looks like a mist has descended over PN. And that avoids photoshopping.

I really like how atmospheric this is (well it is a mist and all), but with the gloom of the bridge shadow and the non-descript sky, it all fits together.  Avoiding photoshopping, always a bonus!

 

Always look forward to the regular views of PN, it never tires no matter how many B1s, V2s, A3s, A4s, A1s, J6s and N5s we see, and especially when a B17 comes to visit!

That mist is lifting very quickly, but still tones down the glare behind 60514, perhaps making this a more successful angle than usual?

Still no sun at a useful time of day, though I have managed to resist putting the heating on. Image stock is dwindling rapidly. This evening our one shot is the wide angle one from Spital Bridge, with Chamossaire heading north.

Not often give us a close as  close as the lower picture Gilbert , but focussing on the accuracy and detail of the wheels valve gear and reversing rod  it is a reminder to those of us that started this journey as kids with a Triang  jinty just how far this amazing hobby has come. We moan about the quality and cost of modern offerings but the progress over the years has been unbelievable.

Under the bridge comes a loco not seen before in service at PN. It must have been on Northampton or Rugby trains from Leicester, which is where it is going now.

We have our man up on the bridge as well, of course, and he got this shot of the Fowler tank as it passed below him.

Same forecast again, so unless it turns out to be wrong I shall have to rely on artificial light and do the best I can with it.  42330 has come to a stand, and is photograhed with that lovely background of buildings and sky.

Which causes me to give some thought to what is the best view on the layout. This one must surely be right up there, but I'd be interested to know which you consider to be the best.

Certainly one of the best views Gilbert; I'd be reluctant to say THE best.  The shots looking into the train shed are also very good.

I agree. Few model railways can boast such a trainshed, complete with passengers, and the views of approaching trains through it are excellent.

So to the last image in the store, as 42330 heads away towards Leicester.

The good news, however, is that the weather finally relented and gave me brightness and occasional sunshine, so the store now contains nineteen images. All I have to do now is photoshop them all.

 

Interesting that the view from Spital Bridge has not been mentioned yet, as it normally gets more likes than any other.

I like your 'Hole in the wall' shot's, always reminds me of the part views of locos, glimpsed through the buildings at certain stations.

I’m on holiday so only catching up occasionally. The Spital Bridge view is still my favourite.
