RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted November 21, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 21, 2022 The B1 having left, Platform 2 becomes available for the 7.43 Sunderland, and its Heaton A2/3, Ocean Swell. That really was a rare sight down south.

The a2/3's though ungainly like the a2/2s really do have a sense of presence about them.

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted November 22, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 22, 2022 Patrick Stirling waiting at Platform 3. and an image showing the difficulties of taking photos in a south facing room when the sun is so low that it shines horizontally. All blinds were closed, but even though I have toned highlights down as far as possible, just look at all the roofs. Ocean Swell under the bridge is OK though. 30

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted November 23, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 23, 2022 Do you ever find yourself wondering "why am I doing this?", but still carry on doing it anyway? There was I three days ago, zooming in on a shot I'd already done, and knowing that the light wasn't good enough. But I carried on, and when I looked at the image it confirmed that I had been right. So I spent ages trying to photoshop it, knowing that it would be beyond my capabilities. But on I went to the bitter end, and confirmed that it was indeed beyond my ability. After spending all that time though, I couldn't bring myself to bin it. Yuk sums it up, I think. Then I went down t'other end and tried something else, and that didn't come out very well either. The following day was even worse, but we haven't got there yet. 12

Peter Kazmierczak
Actually, I rather like this "looking over the bridge" shot, which Gilbert must've taken from the top deck of a 'bus on his way home.... 14
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted November 24, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 24, 2022 This one may be a little more successful. The puddles look quite convincing, though they were not intentional. Then we have another diesel electric locomotive, bringing through the 8.40 Up Newcastle. 30

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted November 24, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 24, 2022 The other side of D209. Entering Platform 6 is another B1, on another Skegness train. This one left KX at 1208, and waits here for nine minutes, while something more important gets by. I would think the opportunity would be taken for a loco change, so this may be one of the few Skeggy services that had a Pacific or V2 as far as here. Not today though.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted November 24, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 24, 2022 I was visited today by a self described deranged duck, though he didn't seem very deranged to me. Now, I know I very recently claimed to have been cured of locoholism, but I have to confess that he brought with him another loco. This doesn't count as a relapse though. Phil quite often bids for things on auction sites, sometimes wins, and often has forgotten that he had even bid for them. Anyway, he won two locos sold as one lot, one a Southern one which he wanted, but the other was a Bachmann A1, which he didn't. I'd agreed to let him have my Standard 5, which was pushing things for PN, so we agreed a swop, and this morning he brought the A1, which looks as though it is brand new, and has never been out of its box. So, it cost me nowt, and is a real bargain, so it doesn't count as locoholism, does it? 7 1 1 3 9
