RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 23, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 23, 2022 Contrasting rear three quarter views this very wet Sunday morning. First of a loco both graceful and elegant. and then of one which really isn't either.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 23, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 23, 2022 More B1s tonight. 61143 will have a nice easy trip up the E.Lincs to Grimsby. But 61027 has already worked much harder, having started from Hertford North, and with still some way to go to Skegness. An ancient Bachmann loco, but rejuvenated with a new chassis, so it can continue its life of more than 30 years. 37
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 24, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 24, 2022 Two B1s to gaze upon, while I await the imminent arrival of my new screeen. Who knows what wonders may occur then? Or possibly not.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 24, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 24, 2022 Oh my! Everything seems different. With the screen being wider, things are displayed in different format, and it takes some getting used to. Tonight's images are from last week, so apart from a bit of adjusting highlights and brightness, no different from what has gone before. Here is Grantham A3 Prince of Wales, coming under Crescent Bridge with the 9.18 KX-Leeds. The White Rose, as you can see. No problem posting the images, thank goodness. The sky comes out a completely different colour though.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 25, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 25, 2022 Onwards goes 60054. And The West Riding appears, Abbotsford having obviously come down Stoke Bank very quickly, in order to dislodge the headboard like that. It was on straight when the loco left the fiddle yard, honest.
RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted October 25, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 25, 2022 I do like the fact that, a few days after Sir Walter Scott passed through, we now have Abbotsford, his home. Not every layout offers such connected loco names! 4

Not every layout offers such connected loco names! We have the LNER to thank for those names, of course. I read quite a lot of the novels as a youth, so when I came to choosing names for my A1s these two were top of the list. As most of the Scott themed locos were, quite rightly, NE engines, and very rare down PN way, there will be no more on this layout. I really would like a D30 though. 3
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 25, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 25, 2022 Abbotsford runs through Platform 2, the wonky headboard decently shrouded in shadow. Seven minutes pass, and another Skegness-KX slows for a six minute stop. If it isn't headboards, its lamps. 24

'Abbotsford having obviously come down Stoke Bank very quickly, in order to dislodge the headboard like that.' It would seem that not only has the headboard gone wonky, but the loco has also lost its front steps and front shackle in the dash down from Stoke; and the vacuum standpipe has been bashed sideways as well. I know you say you don't notice such details (or lack of them), but, to me, these omissions spoil what are often terrific pictures. The next time I come over, I'll bring some spares and a tube of glue, and I'll go systematically through your loco stud. I'll also look all over the layout, and the floor, seeing if I can find any bits which have dropped off the plastic RTR models; then fix them back on. Regards, Tony. The headboard took all my attention this time. I have some bits stashed away, and I know there are others lying around the layout, but I suspect nowhere near enough to replace everything that has fallen off.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 26, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 26, 2022 Another B1 waiting for the off, taking returning holidymakers back from Skeggy to London. Then I tried this. usually I crop it a lot more, but I decided to leave in the goods creeping along the Down slow for a bit more interest. Does it work though? Your opinions, as always, will be welcomed. 33
RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted October 26, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 26, 2022 The wider view makes a change, more of that infrastructure I like so much, and gives the impression of space. Love it. 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 26, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 26, 2022 Plenty going on while the B1 waits to depart, as 60001 now comes through with the 9.40 KX-Newcastle.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 27, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 27, 2022 Last one of Sir Ron. Then I must dash round and clean up before my cleaning lady gets here. 25 6
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 27, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 27, 2022 Back to V2s now. 60875 is standing at Platform 6 with the 1130 to Edinburgh. Borrowed 04/8 is waiting to get across to the yards with empties from Little Barford, but is going nowhere yet, as the 9.52 KX-Leeds, running straight through, takes precedence.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 28, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 28, 2022 Looking at things head on this morning. RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 28, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 28, 2022 Still V2s are all that is to be seen. 60983 heads North, and Green Arrow comes south with a Hull-KX.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 29, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 29, 2022 Green Arrow rolls on through, passing time shown as 11.15am. Just four minutes later, 43108 of South Lynn appears, having taken over a Yarmouth Beach arrival at its home. I do wonder if any returning holidymakers were waiting at Yarmouth for a 6.00am start to their homwward journey.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 29, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 29, 2022 A change from V2s at last, as Seagull comes through with the Flying Scotsman. RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 30, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 30, 2022 The A4 was just a brief hiatus, so now its back to V2s. 60875 can get going with the 1130 Edinburgh. and another of our own has stopped with an Up Darlington-KX. I believe this was the train that brought a Thornaby V2 as far as Grantham, where our very dirty 60853 will have taken over. This one is still black under all that grime. A general overhaul is not very far away.
