LNER4479
For this one, I'm going for: Monsal Dale As 'wayside' as they come and just a short walk away from one of the country's most iconic railway locations - even with there being no rails there these days (perchance they return) (from the Wikipedia page, photo by Rob Bendall)
bigwordsmith
I expect many of you folk on here have had a cataract replacement, well on Tuesday I joined the club, and this morning bought a pair of 34.99 reading glasses, so I can once again use the computer. they are still bedding in - Ive got the right one in two weeks, and have been told it takes six weeks to bed in fully, but OMG what a difference! Now I may finally be able to see all the rivets that us folks are so supposed to love counting! I can also see the difference between the different kinds of Pacifics - remembering which is which on the other hand.... 2

I echo what Gilbert has said. What a difference! Everything seems a lot brighter as well. Keep up with the drops - it is not for long. I got a wee thing from Boots that clips onto the top of the dropper. It can rest on the surround to your eye and hold the dropper in the right place easily for you. RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted September 3, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted September 3, 2020 Another of these tripod shots, all of them experimental really. Too much wrong with this, in my opinion, but it does show a lot of the layout in context you don't normally get.

And as I've said before, it does give more context to the close-ups in which you specialise. A bit more Brian Monaghan, perhaps. Interspersing these occasionally is good. 3
Markeg
Hi Gilbert, I currently building a Gresley 61' Third open. Do you have in your extensive list of Gresley coaches a Third Open. I am after a side shot, so I can get an idea where the Torpedo vents go. I have done a search on google and found a few photos, but it will only get me to the point of estimating where they go. Water filler and hand rails are there too. I have a drawing of interior and can work out the underframe. No hurry, just when it appears in the roster. Otherwise I will search through the pages. Keep the photos coming. thanks Mark
RMweb Gold DaveF Posted September 3, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 3, 2020 I'll go for Monsal Dale. David

If not, tell me what you need, and I'll find a coach, not difficult, and see what I can do.
David Bell
Another for Monsal Dale. I noticed it was on the national news a week or so back. Some locals are very opposed to the idea of replacing the track on what is now a tourist walkway. It is a cracking location 1

FarrMan
I will suggest Bakewell for this one. Nice looking station. Reminds me of a story that my son told me. One car at a rally was being driven and co-driven by two lasses from Bakewell. The commentator announced then as '... of Bakewell, where the tarts come from'. Please consider the Hope Valley line, and the Midland from Derby to Manchester again, but not including Ambergate and Miller's Dale, already done as junctions. Edale. RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted September 4, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted September 4, 2020 An exciting day in store. A haircut this morning, and the osteopath later. For now though, the arrival of the Up Sunderland behind Heaton's A3 Book Law. Book Law now about to come off, and hand over to Dante waiting in the bay.
RMweb Premium great northern Posted September 4, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 4, 2020 An easy win for Monsal Dale, 6 votes, and nowhere else more than two. It is a spectacular place, and well worth a visit, or several. Today we travel from Doncaster to March via the GN &GE joint line. Lincoln Central is excluded though. You can also go to Clive country, Peterborough to Cleethorpes via the E.Lincs, including the Mablethorpe loop, which will allow one very important station. All the market towns are OK, whether junctions or not. But don't all just vote for Quadring. What do you mean, you've never heard of it?
