I hope you like them, as the contortions my body had to put up with to get them were considerable. Should I abandon attempts to get that last angle? I think this is better than previous attempts, but I'm still not convinced. No carry on trying Gilbert. I can’t remember many shots that show the depth of the layout as well as those. The problem that most modellers suffer from is lack of width of the the layout. You are fortunate in being able to get yards and other parts of the railway scene in the back ground and it gives these shots a great sense of authenticity.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 28, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 28, 2020 Having given myself a stern talking to, I have just finished a four mile power walk in just under an hour, for which I have awarded myself two merit points. It'll be a long time before I get a gold star though. Sitting with mug of tea at my side, we can now have the afternoon image. The HMRS journal shows Pacifics on the 6.40 KX- Grantham slow fifty per cent of the time, so there is one today. 60003 rests at Platform 6. The first vehicle during the week of the survey was always a Departmental van, so there is a van behind the tender. Until he got Timmed, Andrew K was a regular on the Scotch Goods, so he will be used to that.
RMweb Premium great northern Posted May 28, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 28, 2020 Nothing to do with trains, but a lovely sight in my garden which you may enjoy as I do. Can anyone tell me why, when I have reduced this to 6kb, and try to add another also reduced to that size, that I'm exceeding 10mb? And when at full size they were exactly the same size as the ones I take of the railway, which always get accepted? 11

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 28, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 28, 2020 I have designated today as a day of outstanding natural stupidity. Hopefully tomorrow will be an improvement. Our express in view is the 8.00 down Leeds, and Sandwich is the locomotive. These images are the same size as the one which was rejected earlier. What is going on? For once I don't think I'm responsible.
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted May 28, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 28, 2020 Well, Gilbert, I’ve noticed strange things going on with the internet today. The latest is that Google Photos is behaving strangely. There may be a bigger problem than RMWeb. I guess time will tell. Best regards, Rob.

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 29, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 29, 2020 Morning all. Lovely again, and after yesterday's setbacks, I shall start afresh. Another photo from Spital Bridge for you, as Sandwich approaches the photographer. Next we had another V2 heading up to London with a mixed goods. It will be coming to a grinding halt shortly though, as the signalman in North box will have noticed that it is displaying Class C lamps, when they should be Class H. He couldn't wait for it to get closer though, and tried zooming in. He also wanted to include the A4 at platform 6, but a signal finial put a stop to that. 26
RMweb Premium great northern Posted May 29, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 29, 2020 Definitely strange things happening with the internet. My last post has a sentence in completely the wrong place, and straight afterwards there was a short loss of connection altogether. However, it is back now, and so the poll result can be given. There were a number of suggestions, just showing how our individual perceptions differ, but I have to announce that the poor Southern Q1 got twice as many votes as anything else, 6 in all. At least I assume it was the Southern one people were voting for, rather than Mr Thompson's effort. There were also some mentions of dodgy attempts at streamlining, so we shall have that as the theme of today's poll. Votes please for the best and worst looking streamlined steam locomotives, and we will extend this world wide again. Once more aesthetics matter, rather than success or otherwise of the design in doing what it was supposed to do.
FarrMan
Best looking streamliner - has to be the A4. Worst looking - has to be Manorbier Castle. And that is from someone who prefers that company that was little changed at the grouping! Lloyd
RMweb Premium 3rd Rail Exile Posted May 29, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 29, 2020 Are you stretching "streamlining" to include "air-smoothing"? The two are not the same... If so: Best - either variety of Spam can. Worst - streamlined "King" as mentioned previously...

RMweb Gold A Murphy Posted May 29, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 29, 2020 The shot of Sandwich snaking out of PE with a long train of mainly blood and custard coaches is a glorious and for me, unashamedly nostalgic reminder, of just how wonderful our railways used to look. Gilbert, I salute you! Best wishes one and all, Alastair 3 2
