LNERandBR
For a freight type 5 I'd go for the Class 56.

You can keep your gleaming Pacifics - the staple diet of us trainspotters was the mundane and unremarkable - even if we did deride such locos at the time. A wonderful, atmospheric photo. Regards, John Isherwood. Glad you like it John, For some reason it seems to work more quietly in reverse (or did). Not so bad, I suppose, for the likes of a J3, but annoying in a Pacific I've built! Regards, Tony.
RMweb Premium St Enodoc Posted May 23, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 23, 2020 56 for me on freight.
RMweb Gold trw1089 Posted May 23, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 23, 2020 Passenger type 5 has to be a Deltic in two tone green with small yellow warning panels, any of them in that scheme but D9003 Meld was the first diesel I ever had a model of and someone even put a light in it for me, so was by far my favourite when I was 5 years old. Type 5 freight would have to be a class 60, love the shape of them. cheers Tony
CUTLER2579
.They had Racehorse names like St Paddy,Ballymoss,Nimbus,Crepello but what were they called? .Class 55 Production Deltic. Then Freight Class 56 easily.
RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted May 23, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 23, 2020 I could be silly with my choice of Type 5 loco and suggest 47 601 (later 47 901) but for a change I will be sensible. A class 58 is my choice. 7

RMweb Premium 31A Posted May 23, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 23, 2020 Is this a Type 5? If it is I shall vote for it, as an honorary Deltic. 2

It still does Tony, but so do my J6s, so it seems to be a characteristic of those models from London Road. We've never managed to cure it in any of them. RMweb Premium thegreenhowards Posted May 23, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 23, 2020 I’ll be obvious and go for the production Deltic as well - my favourite locos bar none. On the freight side, I’ll go for a 56. Andy

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 23, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 23, 2020 Today I have found a sheet of paper. It reminded me that years ago I worked out a lot of complex route settings, and allocated macro numbers to each one. Why then have I since been scratching my head and taking ages to set them manually each time? Sitting quietly with my tea, I shall consider that question. I shall also deal with the afternoon image, which is another look at that Stanier tank. A nicely proportioned beastie, that. 22

Oh yes, I've heard of them, though I can't remember seeing one in the flesh, as it were. I think it was the strange livery that threw me.

2750Papyrus
In 1964, my first girl friend lived in a house overlooking FP depot, so I have several reasons for choosing the Searchers' Deltic, Needles 'n Pinza. 5
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 23, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 23, 2020 The obligatory shot of train standing at Platform 6, but this is the last we shall see of 42573 for a while. Attention now switches northwards, as an A3 appears through Spital Bridge. This will be the 7.30 Grantham-KX, as always with a home based locomotive, 60050 this morning. better than usual into the light, but it was taken quite early on. 26
