David Bachmann David, but special, as it used to belong to Dave Shakespeare, and he did all the weathering. When he asked me to sell all his stuff after his death, he also told me to take whatever I liked for PN. I didn't take much, as Cancer Research was the beneficiary, but this, and his A4 Silver Fox are now very cherished possessions. 4
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted February 12, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 12, 2019 It is quite a while since a WD appeared, but here is one with empties from Ashburton Grove. Martin S-C
Do you cut slots into your lamps so they push fit onto the (what I assume are etched brass) lamp irons?

I try to drill them out, but the eyesight problems don't help, so I now delegate the job to Tim, who can see proper, on account of having youth.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted February 13, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 13, 2019 This morning I awarded myself a bit of a lie inThis is to be followed by a quiet day, during which I may do ****** all, or best part of. No golf club politics, but definitely some railway. Here's another angle on the WD on the Up. Then at last we get some more main line action as Knight of Thistle approaches with the 2.52pm Newcastle relief.

Here's hoping Gilbert. It would be fantastic to see Peterborough filmed on the same lines (sorry!) as the recent production for Little Bytham. What a great double bill that would make!

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted February 13, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 13, 2019 Best part of won, but a few trains ran. I also did an experimental severe crop on one of this morning's images. What do you think? Is the wider view better?
RMweb Premium great northern Posted February 13, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 13, 2019 OK, I meant to put that up hours ago, but forgot to hit "submit post". Still time for the usual late evening fare though, and two re enactions of classic real PN scenes. 60065 framed by Crescent Bridge, and an L1 on the 2.45 from Hitchin, framed by the overall roof.

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted February 14, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 14, 2019 We have a beautiful sunny and spring like day here, so there are no prizes for guessing what I shall be doing. Before I go, here's the B17 which has been lurking by the water tower, and which has now taken its place at the head of the 4.32 to Harwich. The next one nearly got binned, as it was an over ambitious shot taken into strong light. However, with the worst bits cropped out, conversion to black and white, and a contrasty finish it doesn't look too bad to me.

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted February 14, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 14, 2019 The weather was glorious, the golf was not. And I made a mistake in a caption. That York parcels stopped for twenty minutes, not ten. It is on its way again now though. Then we have another still life, this one featuring a view from the side entrance to the hotel. 33
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted February 15, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 15, 2019 That Newcastle train again illustrates the carriage working minefield. Although almost every Tyneside working has a triplet set as its catering core, this one has RF RSP. On the slow, the return empties from Little Barford power station can be seen, with a tender first 01 in charge.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted February 15, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 15, 2019 I have no doubt that you are now as confused as I normally am. What Newcastle train? The one I deleted by mistake, but have now hauled back from the recycle bin. Here is Great Central with the 3.10 Down, which includes a portion for Sunderland at the rear.

The camera's limits are from f2.8 to f8. I normally work with f8, unless I'm taking shots under the roof, when f2.8 is often necessary. The room faces due south, and with three large windows there can be real problems, sometimes with big variations within a short time, so anything between 1/500 and 15 seconds can be needed. It can get "interesting". I don't like flash, and never use it. The camera has its limitations, but can get to places where a bigger camera with a wider range of options never could, so it is very good for the kind of shots I like to take. 2
calvin Streeting
Thanks.. for the info. I have also been playing with multi shot and relayering to get a bigger field of view (trying to remove the macro look) I don't like flash <-- yep its a big no no on model's much better to simply control the lights etc.. RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted February 15, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 15, 2019 End of another lovely day, and time for more photos. That 01 continues slowly onwards, but with little hope of getting much further. It now passes Gayton Hall, which is waiting to reverse its stock down to the carriage sidings. It really is a very bright afternoon. By way of a change, we shall have a look up Station Approach.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted February 16, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 16, 2019 Yet another lovely day to come, and a change of attitude among at least a few of the nay sayers at the Club. What's not to like? Mr Titileist is going to get another bashing later. Next train on the Up is from Harrogate. Its the shortest formation among West Riding trains, only eight cars, no catering. All MK1s, so I won't do a photo spread. The loco is KX A3 Minoru. What else do I have to show you? Oh, yes , a hut.
