Ha ha, probably not. There's one a lot nearer to you - London Road - that has a bigger one. I know a few complete layouts that would fit inside the goods shed. All the best. RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted December 25, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 25, 2018 Off to my brother's to eat turkey and stuff, but just time to post a couple more tripod shots of the station area. These look somewhat strange as photoshopped, but they looked a lot worse if I left them alone!

RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted December 25, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 25, 2018 Once again G’s helicopter shots give a welcome alternative view, and very effective they are, too. A Merry Christmas to Gilbert’s thread and all who sail therein.

Richard Yes, that had occurred to me. All is well at present though, as I genuinely can't think of many things more that I need to store. That may change when I try to think harder and for longer. chaz
Strange, that doesn't show on mine, though I do know it happened. Paint.Net has changed lately, and it isn't aywhere near as easy now to be sure I've removed every little imperfection before I add the sky layer. When I do that, such things show up, so I erase them, but sometimes they come back again. This must be one of those occasions. It's really nothing that should cause you any grief - a minor blemish on an otherwise good picture. I couldn't resist pulling your leg though.... RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted December 25, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 25, 2018 That's that over for another year. It was a nice day though, and for once driving was a pleasure. Here are some more of the tripod pictures. The first one shows what happens when the sun decides to come out just as I press the shutter. It also shows why I feel the need to get rid of background clutter, and why sometimes I can't be bothered to do so. The next one I did bother. but on the last one I left things as the camera actually sees them.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted December 26, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 26, 2018 The camera moves gradually back towards the South end of the layout. Should any daylight appear, some shots of trains will be taken. In the meantime, I shall return to pondering what might be done with those twenty empty cassettes. I already have all the named expresses that ran in daylight hours, save for the Scarborough Flyer, which was Friday and Saturday only anyway.

RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted December 26, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 26, 2018 Those last helicopter shots are stunning. While we are “used” to the quality of modelling that enables the usual closeups, those pics just remind us of how comprehensive the scope of PN is in total. Easy to mentally compare with such shots on other layouts - less easy to recall any that cut such mustard.

RMweb Premium great northern Posted December 26, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 26, 2018 They be big, big sleepers too so maybe two cassettes needed? These two, plus a SLF, in one cassette is the plan Phil. The rest of the train is conventional stock.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted December 26, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 26, 2018 Still one or two tripod shots to come. I do like looking at close ups of the station roof. Eventually there was some light this morning, so I decided I would like to see my new and longer fitted goods in action. There wasn't one due, but control was instructed to provide it anyway. Here is a 9F getting used to its somewhat more onerous task. There are more shots of this to come in an attempt to show the whole length of the train, which turned out not to be easy. In other news, I remembered why a fiddle yard is given that name, and my plans now include the possibility of doing much more of that where I can see what I'm doing a great deal better. More fiddling about! Uncle Ernie will not be involved though.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted December 27, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 27, 2018 A view of Crescent bridge from on high this morning. and, as promised, another look at the fitted goods, as more of the train becomes visible.
Martin S-C
Gilbert, I especially like the first photo in post #19882 and the last photos in #19860 and #19874.Far too often modellers cram in too much and you get tiny station forecourts that you could hardly turn a Bedford van in all stuffed full of buses, taxis, flower vendors and what not. Your layout has these lovely open spaces full of nothing at all and it adds so much to the scene. The sense of space is very refreshing.Your last shot of Crescent bridge has one lorry on it. So many people would fill that roadway with traffic. Less is so often more.
petrovich
You've beaten me this time Chaz. I can't see anything untoward, even when I magnify it. Tacky wax? I have some, but don't find it to be very tacky. Hello Gilbert I use a colour calibrated iMac and on the image there is a white blob above the engine probably halfway to the horizon. Sorry to point it out but it is there. Regards Peter
