RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted July 6 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 6 Practice has told us very little re a pecking order. Quali is unlikely to be bone dry, so those who got in the max no of laps may have an advantage. The race looks to be damp as well. A high-speed circuit in the wet is always a challenge.

Gareth Collier
Looking forward to tomorrow, great quali from the Brits. As for Perez, oh dear, I wonder if RB are regretting that extended contract? 2
298
Still waiting to hear Stroll's penalty, it seems to be questionably immoral to deny Leclerc entry into the top ten shootout when another driver in it could be dropped back down the grid. Of course it was up to Leclerc to finish higher in Q2 to ensure he was in Q3, but it's another example of why penalties for obvious infringements need to be dealt immediately. 2

RMweb Premium Sidecar Racer Posted July 6 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 6 (edited) So if George and Lewis can just cruise round side by side all race we could get a Merc 1-2 , that's not happened for a while . 😎 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Yes I know they have to do a tyre change at some point . 😀 Edited July 6 by Sidecar Racer

As for Perez, oh dear, I wonder if RB are regretting that extended contract? No. He is employed as a support driver. If they really wanted him they would not have left him without a drive in 2020 while they had a spare seat; they would have snapped him up...but didn't. He picks up spare points (but maybe not as many as they would really like) but obeys team orders & is no threat to Verstappen.

If they wanted a proper competitor, surely they would have signed him as soon as he was available & they had a drive available? But they did not. If they wanted a driver to compete properly with & push Verstappen, surely they would have looked elsewhere instead of re-signing him? But they did not.

Verstappen will get a good start, pass Norris, Hamilton & Russell then build a gap, because the Bull is faster with a heavy fuel load. But it may take him a little longer than usual, allowing the others to close up later in the race when the cars have lightened again. That is my prediction. We will see how accurate it is.
RMweb Gold Hroth Posted July 7 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 7 Or he'll get his elbows out, see the red mist and try to barge through in the early corners. With some luck, and a wet track, he might take himself out. I just hope he doesn't tak any of the top three starters with him... 1

Administrators AY Mod Posted July 7 Administrators Share Posted July 7 Looking forward to an entertaining afternoon but my colleague @Andrew Charman posted a page from the programme 40 years ago on Facebook taking me right back to very happy days in 1984. All for £12.50 (£40 in todays money); usual spot at the bottom of Paddock Hill where you could see a good 50% of the club circuit. Drove down from central London on the morning, no queues and parked just behind the main stands. Happy days. Not a classic race but just look at that airshow line-up. 11
