RMweb Gold greatcoleswoodhalt Posted December 31, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 31, 2023 (edited) The November 2023 issue of Steam Days has an extensive spread dedicated to the Hayling Island branch and on page 10 is a picture of the station itself showing the goods yard with two covered goods vans, a 16T mineral, and 'Pill Box' brake van. Would anyone be able to help identify the two covered goods shown, please? Because of the shadows, I can't determine if they're ventilated, or not. The furthest looks similar to the 12T produced by Bachmann? The article is available free on Readly, after creating an account, but declining the trial. The picture is from the Britton Collection and can be copied across, but reluctant to do so! Edited December 31, 2023 by greatcoleswoodhalt
Wickham Green too
If it's/they are the same shape as a 'standard' SR 12T produced by Bachmann it's/they are probably SR or SEC vehicles - though whether 10T or 12T, 9', 9'6'' or 10' wheelbase or plain plank, paired plank or plywood sided is a different matter ................... of course if it's/they are that shape but NOT ventilated it/they are probably banana vans !!?!
chris45lsw
The near one is a BR standard 12t ventilated goods van with plywood sides. Though in shade the end would be corrugated steel with a single vent. The far one is an SR 12t ventilated van and and seems to be the type with alternate wide/wide/narrow/narrow planked sides. Both available (or have been) from Bachmann.
