Just came across this pending title - out 31st October, 2023 or January 2024, depending upon which parts of the web-page you believe.

https://www.crecy.co.uk/british-railways-freight-terminals?osCsid=8cmc02qnf8rmkifmdkndihgth3

I hope it delivers what it promises.  Looking forward to buying a copy.  Hope of interest to readers here.

We have it from Crecy that they had some issue with their printers and several books are caught up in this delay including:

O no!  Just as well excerpts (I think) are being published in Traction.  Bought the latest issue yester-day, for the steel terminals.

Now the word we have direct from Crecy is that our stock (a lot of them) will be delivered to us next week.

Kevin

I take it back, I have just spoken to Crecy with our order for this week, and they have revised their story again to "yes, it is at the printers but is delayed leaving"! Once again even the trade are back in the dark... August was mentioned...

Don't shoot me I am just the messenger.

Many thanks, @Strathwood .  Full of excitement, I 'phoned Waterstone's a few days after reading your post, to be told it was still not in at Gardner's Books - if they do not hold it no-one does - which confused me.  Now we know why...

Collected my copy this morning, ten months after ordering it.  I have yet to read the text, but the photographs look comprehensive, and in the first chapter, there are several of the goods being handled, which is most useful.

There is a reprint of a picture I find most inspiring - 73 134 in Strood Yard in 1984 - shown in full landscape format with much atmospheric peripheral detail.  First saw it heavily cropped to portrait format in Dr Michael Rhodes's Freight trains of British Rail, 1982, so that pleased me.  As @Darius43 says, "Definitely worth waiting for".

Incidentally, the t.p.v. says, "Printed in Lithuania by BALTO print"...

Are there two versions of this Paul Shannon book? The Crecy, Amazon and Strathwood websites state the the book has 152 pages, but the above ‘Contents’ page lists 213 pages. Clarification would be appreciated - many thanks!
