Not seen coaches before... Had carriages for a while just had nowhere to run them. Have many more to build... at the moment there's a third and a brake third finished with another different brake third and a composite to finish and a set of 4 low roof ones to start. Four and a loco should easily fit in a 4ft fiddle yard.

43110andyb
It was great to talk in person today at our show (Darlington MRS) about the project! Following with interest and looking forward to the modelling of the stream (Bilsdale Beck) after our chat! kes
Looking good Paul and serious progress . At this rate you will beat my record of building a layout in 5 weeks! (Mickleover). It looks like it will be interesting to operate with the train reversals.

RMweb Gold Worsdell forever Posted October 4, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 4, 2023 So, where is Chop Yat (Chop Gate but pronounced YAT). It's a small village in a big dale, Bilsdale is one of the larger dales of the North York Moors, the B1257 is the main road running through it between Stokesley in the north over Clay Bank and into the dale before climbing out of the dale and running into Helmsley in the south, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chop_Gate https://www.britainexpress.com/attractions.htm?attraction=2731 The village is about 3/4 of the way up the dale. https://www.google.com/maps/@54.3893961,-1.1389076,913m/data=!3m1!1e3?authuser=0&entry=ttu As can be seen in street view the field between the road and Bilsdale beck is quite suitable for dropping a railway in to... https://www.google.com/maps/@54.3910179,-1.1401355,3a,75y,174.33h,88.3t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1stFUdirukxzkflDvEwe8nrA!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fpanoid%3DtFUdirukxzkflDvEwe8nrA%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D179.79727%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i16384!8i8192?authuser=0&entry=ttu
RMweb Gold Worsdell forever Posted October 5, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 5, 2023 Had a good session last night and got the turnout motors on board 3, there's 5 on this one with the south end of the loop and the goods yard throat, there's 2 to go on board one which is the north end of the loop. The other 2 boards don't have any. Wiring on board 4 is just about done, just the wires to link to the FY and B3.

RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted October 14, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 14, 2023 Morning Paul. Always a fab moment. I always, subject to the electrics being avaiable of course, try to finish off every 'building session' by running a train. I find it helps provide a bit of focus if things haven't gone too well or you're doing a job you don't particularly enjoy. In my case ballasting ! I'm the opposite, I rarely run anything at home and even then it usually ends up with me tinkering with something.
RMweb Gold Popular Post Worsdell forever Posted October 15, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted October 15, 2023 Further wiring is on hold until switches arrive so I thought I'd make a start on the bed of the beck and the road that runs down passed the goods yard and across the beck by a water splash. I've curved a section of wills setts, they're a bit big for normal setts but are fine for the larger sandstone blocks that would be in the water. 27
RMweb Gold Worsdell forever Posted October 18, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 18, 2023 Making good progress with the wiring all turnouts are now connected to switches on the beginning of a control panel. Not all those switches are turnouts by the way just 5 of them, they'll get coloured sleeves eventually. Movement and lights to tell you which way it is (or are least where it should be!).
RMweb Gold Popular Post Worsdell forever Posted October 19, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted October 19, 2023 Control panel coming on well, the plywood lid will hinge at the back and will need cutouts for the switches, the plastic will be glued down then holes drilled for the LEDs after the track diagram has been put on.

RMweb Gold Worsdell forever Posted October 20, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 20, 2023 Switches for the uncoupling magnets have been fitted to the right hand end of the panel and suitable holes drilled through the plywood, I've also fitted some hinges so the lid will open. The space above the switches is for the track diagram with turnout and signal LEDs.
