I personally didn't have any problem with making the minor adjustment, took all of about 15 mins. However after attempting to run it slowly over some electrofrog points and the sound cutting out and restarting I surmised a keep-alive was needed. Much to my disappointment it's not possible with their factory sound chip so any future Dapol models I purchase I will be getting the bare-bones model and fitting a Loksound v5 and a TCS keep-alive because I refuse to spend this much on a sound model only to have it cutting out. Regarding their 28xx I was contemplating getting one however I've had to re-livery the Hornby one (which has outside steam pipes when it shouldn't have for pre-1935) so perhaps by the time it's released I will have a need for one.

I note that my Accurascale Manor with Sound that arrived last week doesn't have this issue as it has a Keep-alive fitted from factory(even just the DCC ready models!) with this in mind the additional £40 it cost over the Dapol manor is really only £20 by the time you purchase a stay-alive.

More like 2Q 2025 at the earliest.

I don't know what Dapol is trying to do with 2831. There's no way it could be backfeed with the rest of those features.

The standout feature in the tooling seems to be how much depth they've put in between the frames to simulate valve gear. Looking forward to seeing the project develop.

On Facebook, Dapol recently asked people to report potential issues with CADs via their own forum rather than in FB posts.

 

I guess the same applies to us on RMweb, especially since we don't know how much Dapol engage with RMweb...

Give 'em their due they did listen, and act - ro some extent but enough, when I raised the issue of built-in tail lights  lights and use of separate tail lamps on the railcar.

That forum looks pretty moribund to me. Very few recent posts.

That did indeed happen on official GWR postcards where there several instances of the same photo appearing as a different engine with (obviously)  hand altered names and numbers.  'Saints' seem to have been the usual recipient of such treatment..

Second only to 0-6-0's I do like eight coupled freight locos, which between them earned much of the money that made the fun stuff possible. Catching up on this topic, the Dapol status looks very promising given the range of variations the tooling is specced to deliver, an 'original' verion as first in service just what I want. This will sit nicely alongside the Robinson GCR, Gresley GNR, Raven NER, Bowen-Cooke/Beames LNWR, RTR models. Joy indeed!

3802 will have a BR black livery with the BR Early Crest on the tender side. It will have a curved footplate drop at the front of the locomotive, parallel buffers, a large pony truck bell cover and the top front lamp bracket will be mounted on the smoke box door. This locomotive has outside steam pipes and a small boiler cradle. It has the Collett cab with the sand boxes situated forward of the cab. The boiler is crowned with a tapered chimney and small safety valve bonnet and fire iron cover. 3802 will be paired with a riveted tender.

Out of curiosity how many 28xx retained inside steam pipes/ straight frames until their end? Curved frames/inside steam pipes?

 

Or any that kept straight frames but outside steam pipes?
