Administrators AY Mod Posted May 3, 2023 Administrators Share Posted May 3, 2023 Bachmann Europe Plc today revealed its latest collection of new products with the launch of the Summer 2023 British Railway Announcements. The largest offering of new products via a single British Railway Announcements to date, the Summer collection showcases new models in N, OO and O scale, all of which are scheduled for release in the coming months. It is N scale and the Graham Farish range that dominates the Summer British Railway Announcements. Starting with motive power and whilst it is well known that the BR Standard 5MT Steam Locomotive has been undergoing SOUND FITTED upgrades, Bachmann today confirmed that the Ivatt 2MT locomotive has undergone similar upgrades and new models of the Ivatt 2MT, including SOUND FITTED versions, will be produced this Summer. Further identities for the Standard 5MT were also revealed, along with SOUND FITTED versions of the previously announced locomotives. New Tooling for Graham Farish this quarter comes by way of the MXA ‘Lobster’ Bogie Open Wagon, following the launch of the OO scale version in the Spring announcements. Like its larger counterpart, two versions of the N scale ‘Lobster’ will be available, one will feature traditional brake blocks and levers, whilst the second will depict a wagon fitted with disc brakes. The EFE Rail announcement topic also includes N Gauge PBA Tigers - Continuing the additions to the Graham Farish range of rolling stock which began in Spring with the unveiling of various new wagons, it is coaches that take centre stage this time. Both the BR Mark 1 and BR Mark 2F coach ranges see a substantial number of new additions this Summer, with numerous vehicle types catering for many of the most popular liveries across the eras, and in many cases with two different running numbers available per model. The wagon fleet is not forgotten altogether though, and new liveries for both the TTA Tank Wagon and OBA Open Wagon appear, each produced with a choice of two running numbers, plus new versions of the classic 16 Ton Steel Mineral Wagon, and the type that replaced them, the HAA Hopper Wagon. RMweb Gold TomE Posted May 3, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 3, 2023 (edited) Good to see coaching stock announced, hopefully all those clamouring for it in the past few years will put their money where their mouths are! A few of those Virgin Mk.2fs will certainly be heading in my direction. Excellent set of announcements for N Gauge I reckon. The NGN summary is now up here Tom. I sure will, been trying to pick up Blue & Grey Mk1 TSO's and SK's on ebay for ages but not much luck. As for Mk2F TSO's they were going crazy so having 2 released will b a big help. It does look like sense has prevailed though as there is no Mk2F BSO so presumably we will see a shift in quantities now. Either way with those coaches and the Std 5MT and Ivatt 2MT my wallet is trembling. That was BEFORE the sale day

RMweb Premium AndyB Posted May 3, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 3, 2023 @AY Mod thank you for posting this announcement; much appreciated. Nice to see the 2MT and, as others have said, the bread and butter Mk1 coaching items.

woodenhead
Tsk nothing in it for me 🤣🤣 All those coaches, I note that Bachmann have sensibly opted for a second running number in second class over a run of First class Mk1s that nobody needs, just the Intercity and Virgin Mk2 FOs. I think this should satisfy people for the time being, it's a good run of coaches through 5 Mk1 liveries and three Mk2 liveries and with the 47 coming in the summer the Virgin ones are important. Me, I already have both of those steam locos and enough Mk1s to open my own store. Edited May 3, 2023 by woodenhead
woodenhead
Just had my daily set of Ebay alerts - lol - a few Mk1s have appeared as buy it now at 30 quid, usually the bidding starts there.

Standards_in_OO
I don’t think I’ve seen so many new coaches announced since the early days of Bachmann or Poole era Graham Farish!
Padishar Creel
Good to see MK2Fs reappearing, will be buying a few. RMweb Premium RichardT Posted May 3, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 3, 2023 (edited) I’ve moaned a lot about Farish before, so it’s only right that I say WELL DONE to this announcement. Core rolling stock in sensible variations and liveries to encourage multiple purchases. At first sight, ironically, “nothing here for me” as I’m pre-Mk1s, but I might just allow one of those LMS 2MTs to sneak over the border into the LNER Northern Area (and anyway, I’ve got enough J39s to be getting on with! A V1/3 and V2 would be nice though…if only someone had made them in 4mm and could shrink them to N…) Richard Edited May 3, 2023 by RichardT Adding a bit 2
RMweb Gold Stuart A Posted May 3, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 3, 2023 As I said after the Spring announcements.... The new policy of larger batches of the same type of rolling stock with multiple running numbers should be a strategy welcomed by all those who have previously moaned about the lack of models. Bachmann have listened and are delivering. Whether we can afford all these new releases is another matter.....
RMweb Premium RichardT Posted May 3, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 3, 2023 Thinking about affordability though - I know that “under-promise and over-deliver” is usually a positive maxim, but perhaps Farish could not take it quite to such extremes… 🤣 Richard 1
Roy L S
I have previously been critical so nice this time to say full credit to Bachmann for an excellent cross-section of models this quarter, the re-runs of Mk1s in "bread and butter" liveries in particular will be very welcome, and I think their availability is very likely to do a lot to boost N sales generally. The Ivatt 2MT with sound upgrade is bound to be popular, it is such a versatile loco, and along with 5MT, 4F, J39 and Fairburn starts to bring a little more depth to the range of steam locos. Hopefully we will see the Jinty and 64xx next to improve this still further. A totally new tool steam loco would have been very welcome, but with such a large suite of existing tooling it is perhaps understandable that Bachmann would choose to focus on those models first, hopefully something totally new will come along before too long. Or they will be announced at the next quarterly because they simply couldn't deliver them this quarter.
Ed-farms
I did not see the Ivatt coming with sound, certainly a good surprise. I have one already that ius very much a rule 1 engine so a 2nd will be hard to justify but I will find a way. A 5mt is also a must have, not sure which one yet. Rolling stock is my main aim this quarter, stock up on mark 1's whilst shops have them
montyburns56
I think it's safe to say that most people who model the post 1950s will find at least a few new releases that will please them, but where are the toilet models that we've all been crying out for? And I bet that they are releasing that Sealink MK1 SK just to try and sell all of those Sealink BSKs that are still in the Bachmann warehouse from four years ago!
RMweb Premium Steven B Posted May 3, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 3, 2023 You wait ten years for a Maroon Mk1 and half-a-dozen turn up at once! Talk about going from famine to feast! Still no Pilkington green/red/blue though (grumble grumble.... 😀) It's good to see that Bachmann/Farish have perhaps been listening to the may grumblings about the lack of second class coaches compared to the other types. The Clay Tiger is also a worth while addition to Speedlink trains. I was expecting higher prices for the coaches too so doubly good news. Fingers crossed for the missing Mk2a in the autumn (blue/grey TSO & Regional Railways BSO). Steven B. 1
