Fantastic choice to make these ! - carriage of the year decision for me, I want to see them in the flesh now. Is there any evidence suggesting that they did ? There is anecdotal "evidence" from former colleages that a Tierwag was trialled on the Train Ferry, but not one of these. Never seen a photo, but live in hope as a previous "holy grail" of a Warship on the Admiralty Pier lines turned up after many years of searching . RMweb Gold adb968008 Posted November 26, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 26, 2022 FYI, roofs are magnet fitted to easy remove. (No interior in the same I just handled). there are vac and dual brakes versions to look out for in Blue/Grey. would look good with a sealed beam 46 was my comment ;-) 1
Michael Hodgson
The model is described as having steam heat/ETH. Really? I could see a reason for a steam pipe running through, but do cars need ripening like bananas? Pehaps the cars needed drying on the return working from Scotland? mckinneyc
They look stunning! I did see a photo online, just can't remember where, of 3 carriers plus the 4 Mk1 day carriages making a realistic formation more affordable for folk.

The MAT open tierwags regularly worked right into the Fiat factory at Turin. (The Italian Job). Fiats were then imported into the UK via Dover Dunkirk ferry. There is an article with accompanying photographs in trains illustrated. A read through the "cars by rail" thread might be useful. 3 1

Might we see a re-run of the Heljan DP2? Hopefully Accurascale will get there first. THE FUTURE BECKONS by Bill Watson, on Flickr but who needs DP2 or a Deltic. A Bachmann J72 perhaps? These are the two car carriers that were attached/detached from the ASCC at NCL central awaiting positioning into the motorail platform behind the platform. 1 hour ago, adb968008 said: definitely highlight of the day so far Thanks for posting the phots. Good to make an assessment. I'd have hoped these are pre-pod prototypes but I doubt it. That's a very poor representation of an RIV buffer. Easy to change out for something more accurate but why should that be necessary considering the RRP & claims of accuracy. If between me and LMS models being able to do it, surely a premium manufacturer could manage it. P Edited November 26, 2022 by Porcy Mane

The roofs and the magnets are fine on all the samples - looks to me like someone on the Hornby Magazine layout (who borrowed a set over the weekend) just hasn't replaced the roof properly. 2

I thought it would be something like that. Said in jest. So are the representation of the RIV buffers we see on these samples the same as will be fitted to the production samples? ... and while I'm on (but on a different topic); will the incorrect livery application on the BR/N.E.R. painted ES1 be corrected on the production version? Thanks.
