I was very pleased to receive a surprise email from the Fifty Fund this week which announced a combined reissue of ex-Laira Depot fitter Mike Woodhouse's long out of print books featuring many tales of the Class 50's, which for this release has been partly re-written and updated with additional stories, complete with a forward from ex-Area Fleet Manager Geoff Hudson:

My copy arrived in the post this morning. From an initial, brief scan, it looks very good. Some interesting images, but plenty of reading, too; and it will be interesting to get a very different perspective to the perhaps more typical mainstream, locomotive book. I shall look forward to a more in-depth peruse when time allows.
