ultimately, we have offered P4 and EM wheel sets for several high volume locomotives to date and take up has not yet achieved a half of one percent.

In reality by volume it’s barely 1/10th of one percent relative to OO locos sold.

Read into that what you may but while we continue to support and provide for alternative gauges there is less than zero commercial logic in doing so let alone offering RTR.

Yes, I understand and agree with your comments. If you cannot emulate SLW (and was only thinking that would be on the locos that you are already providing P4 or EM wheels for), then fine.

But frankly, if the numbers in providing P4 and EM wheels are that unfavourable, I am surprised you even offer them.

But the original question (ie. asking whether AS could do the same as SLW, even on a limited scale) was nevertheless a legitimate one, so I would be terribly grateful if people could stop thinking that I am being so unreasonable just for asking it.

But now we know that they cannot offer a service of wheel substitution. That's fine, Paul from AS has explained the background. So be it.

If your into specialist stuff why not do it yourself or not be as picky?

Might be worth doing a bit of research into the modeller against whom this was aimed before poking your keyboard.

For clarity, what ( and this may have been raised earlier in this thread or other AS threads )......what is the warranty position on issues arising from the owner fitting a factory supplied, EM or P4 wheelset in lieu of a factory fitted option ?

Hi Fran,

I know I'm never going to be flavour-0f-the-month with you guys, but on the off-chance that no one has seem my query on this thread dated 10th June last, I would like to repeat my question about offering your diesel locos with ready-fitted P4 or EM wheels, please.

Given that SLW seem to be a smaller team than yourselves and the fact that they are still happy to offer (upon request and for an additional fee) P4 or EM wheelsets ready-fitted in their models, I was wondering whether Accurascale would be prepared to follow suit and offer the same facility, please?

Hi @Captain Kernow,

Firstly, I don’t know why you said “never going to be your flavour of the month”, I don’t recall any crossed words or falling out previously? I have time for everyone who has time for me, so please don’t feel that way. I apologize in advance if I have ever offended you previously. Absolutely not my intention.

As for wheelsets, we just have not got the manpower to offer such a service at this moment in time. I understand your example of SLW, but I would point to recent frustrations pointed out online on getting the latest locomotive orders out to customers (I am merely speculating here that such requests can slow down dispatch for a small team) and the frustration that has seemed to cause customers, and that it is likely low volume along with only the second locomotive launched to date over almost a 10 year time period. (Might be less, but it’s 11:30pm on the evening of a show, so I apologise if I have this wrong.) While our team is larger our volume of models is vast, and right now it’s just not realistic for us to offer.

I did chat to Jeremy Good of the Scalefour society today and he requested if we could provide “how to” guides on how to rewheel the 37 and future models. We will certainly do this going forwards.

Cheers!

Fran

Oh i dunno, When I’m not modelling i’m usually moaning.

😀

im dreaming about this..

IMG_9414.jpeg.8fac3a69d3036601f4c1698857099664.jpeg

Soon very easy to recreate even on a small layout.. 2x cl 31 and 4 RR coaches… 31413 at the back, Ice Cream van livery  (Rails is offering it)… 31/4 with frame strengthened window at the front, 31432 is a match.

it just cannot be that the last time you could buy this pair as a model, was the same time I took this picture… I mean no 31/4 in blue rtr for c30 years.

Hi Fran,

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my rather trivial* concerns (* when viewed in the Overall Scheme of Things...).

My 'flavour of the month' comment was nothing to do with what you or any of your team have said, but rather my own perception of the way various criticisms of my own may have been received. I was critical of the Manor, which arose due to my disappointment with my own model's performance (ran badly, even after running in and persistently derailed on OO-SF track**). I had to return it to the retailer.

Then I cancelled my AS Class 37 order (with the retailer), due to hearing about issues reported by different individuals on this forum. These issues were to do with running and also difficulty of replacing the OO wheels with your P4 or EM ones (as evidenced on the S4 forum and also in a most recent MRJ).

I had even bought a set of your P4 wheels in advance of the release (BR green, SYE, centre headcode - ie. suitable for South Wales), but I will use those for other projects.

McC did respond to one of my posts, suggesting that I was allowing myself to be swayed by a small minority of complainants, which on the one hand is a valid point, but when the persons expressing concerns (regarding the P4 rewheeling) are experienced and respected modellers, then I tend to take notice of what they say.

However, if you have spoken with Jeremy Good, then that can only be a positive thing for the future. A 'How To' guide for the re-wheeling was going to be my next suggestion!

Finally, I have never ascribed a greater commercial significance to P4 modellers that is actually the case - we are a tiny, tiny minority of all 4mm customers and are likely to remain that way.

** I model in both OO and P4.

Thought I might as well put this out here, please for the next run may we have the likes of this, as well as others in revised triple-grey schemes, such as Petroleum (as that was the Bachmann version I had on order before cancelling it) and a 31/1, also in Civil-Engineers "Dutch"?

Thank you! :)

Any photos of the production version of the Railfreight 31110 available please?

Hi Chris,

Not just yet, we are finishing production on them now, so it will likely be shown along with Reggie Rail, Green and Dutch etc in a couple of weeks' time.

Cheers!

Hi Chris,

Blues are still on the high seas. With the ships taking the long way round there an added 3-4 weeks at the moment so we are still a few weeks away from land fall. Not much more I can say about them till they land.

Still awaiting batch two decorated samples, but I did see painted bodyshells a couple of weeks back, so as before, we expect them pretty much any day now for approval. Once we have them and approve we can give an accurate update.

Cheers!

Damn. I have been saved from myself for a while as I couldn't order 31 248 anywhere. Now I have jumped in and pre-ordered one.

I blame you for this, 47007stratford! 😜

I noticed from the last update on the website that delivery of the Coal sector 31 was late 2023. Obviously things change but what is the current projected delivery schedule now? Is it still a case of split run with the coal one in the second batch?

Cheers

Thanks Stephen. I did look at that earlier but it doesn’t advise if it’s a two part delivery. I’ve tried also getting in touch with Key Publishing but they haven’t responded as yet. Hopefully they do over the next day or two. Looking forward to them arriving👍🏻

Here’s the update from June https://www.accurascale.com/blogs/news/blue-brians-class-31-production-update

Blue ones are en route then the next batch will ship and then the exclusives and commissions.

Having just seen the production samples of the next batch an update i’m sure will be shortly with any update on shipping timings.
