Nick G
More work recently transforming the HAA which has become an EWS heavily weathered HMA. Not finished it needs a coat of matt varnish to seal the transfers then another coat of weathering to blend it all in. 12
7mmin7foot
Wow! That looks terrific, even if it is unfinished Nick! You make it look so easy... which I am sure it isn't... I shall be analyzing all your posts when I get to the weathering stage, on mine and build up the confidence to 'have a go'. Nick G
The next 2007 era HAA is in the early stages of weathering and fading. This will be HAA 350145 with faded yellow cradle, before work started and current progress pictured. 6
Nick G
Another Dapol HAA almost finished. This time a faded filthy ex trainload coal version (yellow cradle). I quite like the yellow cradle versions and have another two to do. As usual transfers by Railtec Transfers which I have chopped up some of the number panels and fitted individual numbers to get the correct number for the wagon I was copying. Before and after photos... 10
Nick G
Hope I am not boring you all with these HAA/HMA photos? Anyway here is another yellow cradle ex trainload coal version I have finished. Its a HMA with plenty of patches copied from a prototype photo and numbered correctly.
Nick G
Another filthy HAA with faded railfreight cradle and various patches completed in 2007 condition, this time 353233. 7
brossard
OK, I'll ask. Where is this layout Nick, and how many HAA's do you really need? John

Nick G
Another HAA with yellow cradle almost finished. Again copied from a photo of the prototype and numbered correctly still has it's AYR branding but with the remmnants of it's Barry branding still in place but painted out. Some graffiti tags in evidence too. As usual transfers from Railtec Transfers. 14

A two tone grey has turned up at mine a few weeks back, not sure how 🤥.

It's sound fitted now which has lots of nice features and sounds awesome. I am tempted to get an EWS version for a future project while they are cheap. Baggies1961
I agree, as Hal mentioned some time ago it’s worth waiting until the sales start. I have the EWS on, sound fitted just waiting to be weathered. 👍
Nick G
Bodyside door handle now fitted to 58016. This subject seems to be a bit of a minefield. 58001 - 014 didn't have them fitted although if doors were swapped some had one or two. 58015 - 050 had handles fitted but looking at photos different locos in different years had them facing different ways!

Nick G
Another HAA almost finished in grubby 2007 condition 351686 with its hybrid faded railfreight and scottish blue livery. Copied from a photo of the prototype. 12
Nick G
Another work in progress wagon, the roof needs more work. VAA 200042, there are a few photos on the net of this wagon in this condition in 2006/7.

I agree that some couplings are worse than others with very narrow end links particularly on the Dapol brake vans. The other problem I have is the layout sits high and has a top on it so it's difficult to get to the couplongs from above. The Ellerby lads were using a 'key' type coupling pole that seems to work from the side. I have ordered one to see if it works for me. Hi Nick: Did you end up getting one of these? How did it work for you? - Trevor
