Probably a question of how much Monaco are willing to pay Liberty for the pleasure of providing them with a historic GP, compared to what some of the Sport Washing counties will pay.

Monaco is the most glamourous race of the season, which attracts extra sponsorship. Just how much extra it attracts is another factor as to whether it is worth keeping.

I’ve said it before what Monaco needs to do is extend down to the beach and back

If Monaco might be out is it really the track or the cars that are the problem? Even acknowledging the fact that Monaco's been a bit... odd... for many, many years now.

Cars mainly, they've outgrown the track to the extent it's no longer a race but a procession.

Maybe 10 years ago but I don't see that now. The only people that are gaining from it is/are the Principality itself, I'm not convinced that F1 gains at all, if fact with all the adverse publicity they've had about the "race" over recent years it would indicate the opposite. Maybe when it was only one race in six it was something glamourous and special, but it's now lost in a sea of other races venues all competing to outperform it. with more waiting on the sidelines...

The problem that Bernie and Co got, that I'm not sure the Americans do (or care), is the risk of abandoning too many of the core circuits. Once too many of the halo circuits get left off the calendar you open the door for a promotor to put together a rival formula that uses the classic tracks which, for me, give the best racing.

Given the range increases in recent years it could even be Formula E. Formula 1 could leave Europe all together in the next ten years if they go after the money.

There is a good documentary film called Moseley on Netflix. A bit of a marmite character and not someone I liked, but he did a lot for road safety. It was surprisingly enlightening.

Restrict the number of engines a driver is allowed each season to save cost. A water pump fails on an engine, and the rules state that it may not be repaired. That does not seem to provide consistency of outcome.

It can be repaired, but will count as a new engine because the seal has been broken.

If the rule was not as it is, teams would suffer minor failures at times which just happen to coincide with them developing a 'more reliable' component which just happens to also provide a performance improvement.

F1 targeting “much better price” from new US TV deal in 2023

https://www.racefans.net/2022/04/05/f1-targeting-much-better-price-from-new-us-tv-deal-in-2023/

Don't think so, they have Sky for the main live stuff and they are paying through the nose for it.  In the US as popularity is rising they are eyeing greater income hence the expectation of higher bids.  Channel 4 gets the crumbs off Sky which is a sub licence agreement between Sky and C4.  Unless there is someone in the UK with deeper pockets than Sky, then the status quo is probably guaranteed and Sky can contiunue to partner with C4 as a means of advertising (i.e. poaching viewers) onto their paid for service by restricting what C4 can and cannot do.

When the sky deal expires it will be interesting to see what online options are available in the next licensing arrangement, apparently Bernie didn’t see it as an important growth area and pretty much gave said rights to Sky for the uk market…

To any drivers that it may concern, do not forget your Prince Albert piercing.

You wouldn't want that to get caught on the steering wheel as you try to exit a blazing car!
