RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted December 9, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 9, 2023 Excellent cover photo Andy and the reproduction captures the colour of the lower body area (on my 'puter) pretty accurately. Alas the cab window surrounds are over bright (due to the film stock probably) and look white instead the original colour. i look forward to reading this issue (but then i do with all of them)

Not a true reflection of the ivory off-white for sure! It is a great shot however, not overly used in the past, so I went for it. I do hope you enjoy the rest of the issue, and as always I appreciate your candid feedback. Regards, Andy.

That doesn't look like an oval plate to me, but I look forward to the new siphons book to see it in better detail.

RMweb Gold Mikkel Posted April 14 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 14 I like the shed doors on the front cover. Not mentioned in any BR livery instructions I think :-)

Not mentioned in any BR livery instructions I think :-) I suspect that paint dates from well before Nationalisation Mikkel! The doors appeared permanently open when the shed was in use, so I guess the outside paintwork was hardly ever noticed. Funny how you miss such details! 1

Andy M
Western Times Needs You Editing a publication like Western Times is a balancing act. I have quickly learnt that maintaining a broad church of subject matter, from a diverse range of knowledgable authors is a full time effort. I suspect this is no different from the experience encountered by the compilers of similar journals over the years, and may well have contributed to their demise. Now I'm not starting to ring alarm bells, suggesting that there is trouble at t'mill, but what I am appealing for is new contributors with a fresh voice and opinion on matters Great Western. From the many hundreds of posts across RMweb, it is abundantly clear that there are many individuals out there with some very specialist knowledge, gleaned from first hand experience or many years of research and study. These are the souls that I am seeking to harness! Do you have something to say? (a brave ask on this forum!), do you have research and findings you may wish to share with others?, or do you want to add to, or challenge, long standing subject matter? It could be that you might just like the satisfaction of seeing your name in print, and to open up debate with like minded individuals. I would very much like to hear from you, to discuss project articles you may have and to help in spreading your valuable knowledge for the benefit of an established readership. Our publishers at The Transport Treasury offer a very competitive rate for published work, and the potential to source supporting imagery from their vast archive. So if it is relating to the GWR or BR(W), between the years 1835 and 1977, on any topic at all (trust me I have used stuff from pet rats to office chairs), please get in touch at westerntimes@mail.com I look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards, Andy. 2
