This picture is labelled as Reddish Car Shops, but I can't work out if that means that it's Reddish Depot?

The coach is definitely red-ish. I’ll get my coat….

Does anyone know what happened afterwards as the damage looks pretty severe?

Those wagons are definitely buryed in that signal box. Does anyone know what happened afterwards as the damage looks pretty severe?

According to Signal Boxes L&Y Railways - North and West of Manchester this happened on 10th June 1970. The box was replaced by a temporary block post set up in a room in the Down Platform and a 2 lever Ground Frame to control the connection to Bury Bolton street. All this was closed 4th October 1970 when the line to Bolton was closed.

Newton Abbot.2009 1015 and Oliver Cromwell. - 5/4/2009.  1015 comes to the aid of Nunney Castle which was detached from the Royal Duchy Railtour at NA with a tender problem. The track layout here is so reduced that considerable delays were caused to service trains as 1015 had to be summoned from Laira! It now pilots Oliver Cromwell away from the station.

1961 - 4700 in Summer..  GWR Churchward 47XX Class 2-8-0 4700 at Newton Abbot station, on a sunny day in July 1961.  The loco was completed in 1919, and re-boilered in 1921. It was withdrawn in October 1962, and scrapped in March 1964.  None of the class survived, but today (2022) there is an active project to create a 'new' member of the class, at the Great Western Society, Didcot, including several standard components from other withdrawn GW locos, and now including the boiler from an unrestored 'Castle' Class.

Is that a Southern coach behind? Looks like part of a numbered set.

In case it needs mentioning, the "new" 4709 is still being built.

Once upon a time I mentioned to someone I remembered getting on a Network South East train in Dawlish. He didn't quite call me a liar, but insisted I was wrong, didn't I know NSE only went as far west as Exeter Central? He was so insistent, I gradually came to believe I must have dreamed it. So finding this on Flickr is a great relief! Thanks to Brian Dean.

NSE locos and stock frequently reached Paignton and Plymouth on services from Portsmouth. Penzance and Newquay also saw NSE stock but not quite as often.

If it’s the one I’m thinking of (and I suspect it probably is), that coach just ended up in the Intercity pool and was often seen all over the place on cross country workings. I don’t think it was branded with Scotrail lettering though. It might have been numbered 5813 possibly?

I warn you now, don’t look at Bristol Temple Meads, and certainly not in the direction of Bath Road.

And definitely don’t look out of the window if passing Severn Tunnel Junction.
