Considering the thread title it’s amusing that it’s actually H0 scale and thus sidesteps the 4mm scale gauge debate entirely... As it’s supposedly ‘in the Western style’ perhaps it could be used to model this more comedic scene: Also what was the thread title before it got changed? F-UnitMad
But it doesn't 'settle' the OO/EM/P4 "war" - if there really is one. It merely strings up those who use whichever gauge you hold in most disdain.
RMweb Premium Reorte Posted March 31, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 31, 2021 You settle the war by gauging the differences of opinion and then looking at them - are they really that far apart? I'll get my coat. 1 4

RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted March 31, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 31, 2021 Same company does Iron Curtain watch towers.
Steamport Southport
More aimed at military modellers though. Don't Dapol make a stocks and pillory set? They weren't exactly a fun thing either despite the idea that people just had rotten fruit thrown at them or their feet being tickled. Usually used as a prelude to things like having ears removed or being branded. https://www.Dapol.co.uk/c073-village-stocks-
RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted April 1, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 1, 2021 To be fair to Dapol, I think the intention of their stocks and pillory kit is to represent preserved items on village greens. There are a few gibbets still around as well, but not the whole scaffold as per Outland Models. I believe one does still exist at Chelmsford Prison, though. The iron curtain towers are pretty unequivocal as well. Disturbing.
Steamport Southport
I'm pretty sure Airfix used to make watchtowers. Japanese? Also I had the Action Man Gestapo Officer. No one batted an eyelid. There was also the sentry post. Try making one of those nowadays... https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/303734302745?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338353466&toolid=20006&4236=%26customid%3Ds%3AGS%3Bgc%3AEAIaIQobChMInu27ja_d7wIVEud3Ch375wd8EAQYAiABEgION_D_BwE%3Bpt%3A1%3Bchoc%3A2&customid=s%3AGS%3Bgc%3AEAIaIQobChMInu27ja_d7wIVEud3Ch375wd8EAQYAiABEgION_D_BwE%3Bpt%3A1%3Bchoc%3A1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMInu27ja_d7wIVEud3Ch375wd8EAQYAiABEgION_D_BwE

According to Wikipedia, the last use in England (at Newbury) was in 1872. Quite a few railways around by then! 4

RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted April 1, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 1, 2021 I think he, or she, was lifted up by general approval, i.e. the mob. A new type was invented by the railways, it was called rolling stocks...

I grew up with plenty of varied war comics showing far more graphic scenes of death. The OO camp has rather a lot of rail guns thanks to Oxford Diecast, I think that’s a far more ominous advantage. Steamport Southport
They've tidied up most of the artwork so they don't show graphic scenes. One thing they wouldn't get away with now is the Station Accessories box art with the gent with the cigarette. http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.aspx?id=430 Jason
