jwphillips
Looking for any evidence that TEA bogie tank wagons were run on the West Highland or Far North lines? Have trawled Flickr and various forums without success. Have various references to the West Highland with plenty of usual suspect TTAs and odd Procor but no TEAs. Anyone aware of TEAs working to Fort William, Kyle, etc.? Or will be this be rule 1....?
Fat Controller
They were probably too heavy for the routes in question, having an axle-load of 25.5 tonnes when fully loaded.
RMweb Gold Scottish Modeller Posted March 23, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 23, 2021 Hi there, This will need to be a Rule 1 situation. In the forty odd years researching and modelling the railways in Scotland I've never found anything for TEA on either the West Highland or Far North lines. Thanks Phil H
Dungrange
I believe the issue is most likely the weight of the wagons, which would preclude their use. Although TTA tanks previously worked to Lairg, I understand that these were not fully loaded. http://www.fofnl.org.uk/newsletters/17May/17may15.php refers to the wagons (TTA) being only 75% of full loading capability. As such, I think it's definitely Rule 1. 1
