The Midland at Buxton had a balanced bracket signal, one taller than the other for starters on the platform between Platforms 1 & 2. Guardrails bodged together with big blobs of solder and then superglued in place, and then the ladder added. Ratio seem to use very weird plastic; it files easily and seems to have a really soft consistency, and yet the ladders are as brittle as glass! Quite how people manage to assemble coaches and so on from brass kits is beyond me. I had a stab at a platform trolley first - meh - and then did a little bit better, just, with a bench. I too fancy some of the Langley platform furniture and then the Southwark barrows as well: https://www.roxeymouldings.co.uk/product/868/sbm4113-gwr-goods-hand-barrow-kit-2-/ Given I am looking at building a couple off full carriage kits, I need to get to grips with soldering.... its all to do with heating up the metal and then letting the solder flow.... So I am told. The signal looks good - definitely not a T signal, thats a lot later than the 30's. Re: Bracket signals - I too decided on a bracket for Platform 1 and 2 at Henley-on-Thames, simply because "It looked right". At the real Henley the Platform 1 starter was placed next to the engine release road, which to my mind just looked wrong. Mostly built out of the box, although I did reduce the height to make it a little less overpowering, and replaced the water bag with a tube of masking tape (idea shamelessly stolen from @Broadoak (thanks Peter!) So, now I can get that bare patch of baseboard sorted out, and once the water tower is fixed in place I can then think about bedding in the goods shed as well, and dotting various odds and ends around the goods yard. 13 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I presume that it's to stop the pipe swinging about in strong winds. Still need to do the lenses, and a very gentle bit of weathering. It's given me all sorts of (potentially rather expensive) ideas for CR Mk II. Well, Chuffnell Regis is really supposed to be in Somerset, correct? Perhaps CR Mk II will be a GWR adjunct to the SDJR. I have most of those books in the sets and I find them particularly useful for liking at the surrounding areas and scenery of that era.
