I don't think the Railroad 0-4-0s are DCC ready as they don't have a socket. So a new chassis and they may as well sling a new body on top!

I think some have the contact springs making direct contact with the motor brushes

So I do that before or after The King's Speech whilst little Johnny is crying his eyes out that he can't use his new train as it doesn't work with the brand new HM7000 controller we just bought him?

These things are supposed to be for newcomers, not those that can do electrics.

I thought that the interference suppression gadgetry (capacitors/chokes) weren't essential and could be omitted when installing a hard-wired decoder as the decoder performed that function onboard?

Did Hornby ever make the Saddle tank in a Great Western livery?

If you mean the 'Smokey Joe' type, no I don't think they ever did.

I can't find it now, but I'm sure somebody on RMWeb modified one to look like 'Trojan' GWR 1340 now preserved.

I was flicking through an old RM today and saw what looked like one in the background, must have been a custom job to fit in with the GWR theme.

Does this count? Model was primarily NG (the so-called Winchburgh electric railway, a shale line in West Lothian) but I wanted a SG light loco to sit on the short bridge on the SG line put in to link the E&G to the Forth Bridge.

WBparade2

A Hornby CR pug with a repaint, handrails and a wooden 'tender' provided an approximation to an NBR 'G Class', as licensed by Neilson. The originals lasted into BR service.
