robertbrittle
Hi Everyone I'm looking for some advice in relation to the signalling at Coombe Junction on the Looe Branch, prior to the signal box being decommissioned, it primarily relates to possible alternatives OO products, as the signal in question as far as I can tell, isn't available in ready made (ratio / Dapol) or kit form. The home bracket signal that controlled the departure from the halt plus trains coming from Moorswater could it be replaced by two individual signals ? An image of the signal at Coombe with a departing DMU is available at the link below https://www.branchline.uk/fixture-report.php?id=382 Thanks Robert
RMweb Gold TheSignalEngineer Posted January 13, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 13, 2021 (edited) The signalling was altered in the mid 1950s. Prior to that there was a junction signal by the signal box reading to Liskeard or Looe, straight post signals on the platform line and opposite to this on the Moorswater line and a home signal coming from Moorswater approaching the bridge to the north of the station foollowed by d double disc opposite the platform starter. The arrangements before and after are available on the Signalling Record Society website. https://www.s-r-s.org.uk/html/gwf/S1141.htm The locking tables are also available. Edited January 13, 2021 by TheSignalEngineer Moorswater line disc and locking table comments added.

Hi Thanks for the information, the c1950 layout doesn't seem to have been captured much on film prior to the alterations, as I haven't seen images of that layout in my research, although I have plenty of the revised layout. RailWest
>>>The home bracket signal that controlled the departure from the halt plus trains coming from Moorswater could it be replaced by two individual signals ? That bracket controlled only trains departing from the platform line. For the later layout then I would say that two signals side by side would have been very unlikely indeed, as would one post with the two arms one above the other. I'm sure you could modify a kit bracket to suit. Edited January 13, 2021 by RailWest 1
