sulzer71
Afternoon Would anyone know when Scotrail branding first appeared on Blue/Grey MK1 coaches? Tia
'CHARD
IIRC, Chris Green coined the term in 1983, so that's possibly a decent starting point. Not sure if anyone can get nearer the bullseye - be it month or week!

RMweb Gold rodent279 Posted January 8, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 8, 2021 (edited) Certainly by 23rd November 1985, as this photo shows, and probably some months earlier at least. As the caption says, this was a Merrymaker from Dundee, and at least two vehicles in this rake were so branded. Tia Wasn't it originally 'Scotrail', later changed to 'ScotRail', to make it clearer? Within the first year.
Wickham Green too
Scotrail - small (r) - photographed 12/10/84 ............. nothing but Inter City or TransClyde branding seen in Scotland a year earlier.
RMweb Premium keefer Posted January 9, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 9, 2021 Great pic, I'd always thought that Scotrail was only on blue/grey stock (as the first attempt at general branding) and ScotRail only came in with the full-on launch inc. blue-stripe livery. Wickham Green too
Aficionados will have noticed that I've managed to get the obligatory 'bus on a bridge' in that shot. 1

sulzer71
Thanks for all the replies people but it appears I'll need to remove the branding from the stock I have as it's too recent for my chosen modelling period
