zoomer1979
Who runs the business these days? Haven't been to Carlisle in a decade, so it was Michael and his wife at that point. Good memories of the Aladin's Cave up the narrow stairs! Neil
Mad McCann
It's still Mike. Been 18 years since he took over from Mike Hawkins but he's ploughing on through present difficulties. I'm looking to move north soon, but I absolutely guarantee Mike will still get my business. His quality service and friendly manner deserve no less. Just a heads-up, he's having a week off at the moment so go easy on the orders; I understand he's got a terrifying battle with a monster hedge booked this week! Popular Post Mike at C&M
The emergency operation has been a success, and the hospital have saved the sight in my right eye - their words, not mine. Recuperation will take time, and it is not known exactly when the shop will be able to re-open. Should you need to contact us, it is best to do this by e-mail to sales@candmmodels.co.uk , and we will deal with your enquiry as soon as we are able. Thank you to Widnes Model Centre for posting the above update, and everyone for their kind words
RMweb Gold big jim Posted August 19, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 19, 2022 All the best for a speedy recovery Mike, totally forgot about widnes’ post and walked up from the station as I had half hour between trains to discover you were shut!
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted August 19, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 19, 2022 Yes hope the recovery goes well Mike. I’ve only visited once four years ago on hols but found the welcome and stock most agreeable 😀 The result being a couple of locos left with me.
Popular Post Mike at C&M
I am delighted, and very relieved, that this morning's post-op assessment at the Royal Manchester Eye Hospital was a success. Another week, and the vision in my right eye should 'normalise' - what I am currently seeing is somewhat surreal! Physical exercise still needs to be carefully considered to reduce the stresses and strains on the healing eye. C&M Models will therefore re-open on Tuesday 6th September. Initially, opening hours will be 10.00 to 14.00, Tuesday to Saturday. Thank you for all the good wishes received over the past fortnight. They have been most gratefully received. RMweb Gold big jim Posted August 30, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 30, 2022 I take it C&M now stands for cataracts and monocle? All the best, I’ll pop in next week for a browse (hoping those J72s are still in the cabinet) shout up if you need help with anything while I’m up there
Popular Post Mike at C&M
I have just been discharged from my treatment for the detached retina I suffered recently, so normal service can resume. As of Thursday 6th October, our opening hours will return to being 10.00 to 16.30, Tuesday to Saturday. Thank you to everyone for their patience over the past few weeks, whilst we were unable to provide our normal service 6 2
D6775
Going to have to try and pop in at some point. I swung past yesterday afternoon on my way to the Station not realising the alternative opening hours. Been a few years since I had the opportunity! RMweb Gold big jim Posted December 7, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 7, 2023 A shout out to @Mike at C&M for excellent service as usual, I was in the shop a month or so ago and spotted a used class 67 that I was interested in, as it was new in it hadn’t been tested so had to wait for him to test it for me which he did and posted out to me yesterday, arriving next day I’ve used C+M since about 2008 when I worked for DRS and have always had excellent service and great 2nd hand bargains 6
Glencoe Model Railway
Totally agree about the quality service you get from Mike. I usually get down once a year for a mooch around the shop and normally come away with a bargain or two. 1
