Aston On Clun. A forgotten Great Western outpost.

Well we're not counting. There were eleven pieces wire coated with gunk sitting on the piece of wood. Sorry doesn't have the right vibe to it. You'll have to think of something else.

Remember when thinking of how many trees to build, decide then double it.

Works for me…

Thanks, that's a good point. On that basis, I've ordered another box of mixed size seafoam from WWScenics for the rest of the layout.

If I counted the bits of wire, I'd have given up by now.

PS, I think your dealer may be selling you "flea powder", just saying...😆

Know I'm paying too much for it, that I do know.

Good afternoon Mr Wolf,

Can I hear "A Forest" playing in the background?

Although I understand there is a Cure for that 😂

In other news, having acquired another Pannier (16xx) two weeks ago I have now found a home for a small prairie (44xx).

Oops, Britney calls.

Cheers, Nigel.

It's also possible that once the larch plantation is done, other areas may gain a more mature forest, maybe this is a little too Goth?

This morning I have trimmed and adjusted the branches on all twelve trees before adding more bark mix to blend in the wire tops of the trunks.

This generally takes three or four coats.

As last night's monsoon had disappeared, we got the bikes out and went in search of countryside and lunch.

By the time we got home, all was dry and ready for trimming any lumps and recoating.

Your challenge is to use that kit as a template for a fully detailed scratch build....

Which I think would be rather fun. But like the 1/35 military models I used to make, what to do with it once finished?

House already full of books, musical instruments, motorcycle paraphernalia, model railway items, paintings and art materials, 400+ antique toy cars, Memsahib's vintage clothes, military bits and pieces and who knows what else.

I suppose it is if you can cut yourself off from society and live as a monk?

Speaking of complications, that chap is likely to have a good few of the medical kind of he doesn't lay off the pies. 🤣

Acton Burnell Castle is my favourite secret place.

Now that's impressive, to the extent that I know that if I show her the pictures, plans will be made for a visit.

Once my friends and I started to roam around on motorbikes, Grace Deiu Priory was a a favourite place to go, although in those days it was private and almost completely overgrown.

The priory, once abandoned was partly rebuilt as a manor house, that iirc met its end in the civil war.

Behind it in the woods is another attraction, the remains of a LNWR branch line.

Back in the 1980s there were rumours that you should stay away from there at night, for the woods were the haunt of hell's angels and devil worshippers.*

*Actually a lot of goth girls and a bunch of herberts on clapped out British bikes, but the notoriety was a bit of fun. 😇

“Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated”

You do have a valid point though and I'm grateful that we don't have credit cards, store cards, loans, overdrafts or any of the other things that many consider essential to modern life.

A little more progress in between work tasks, all the bark is now applied and a coat of grey primer added.

The tree tops aren't hugely important as I'm going to add a small amount of fibre to attach extra layers of needles to.

They appear a little more dense towards the top where there's a multitude of young branches.

At least I feel like I have the structure somewhere near right.

When the aerosols of red brown paint I ordered arrive I can bash on.
