Cheers from Oz, Peter C. The Bachmann K3 comes apart quite easily. Once the chassis is off there's a couple screws holding the boiler and cab in place. The kit replaces the K3 footplate and cylinder block, and will require some modification to the boiler. Price is still to be confirmed but is expected to be in the £20 to £25 range.

NiuModels
A few pics of our GNR cab for LNER K3. Show here fitted to the Bachmann model which has been renumbered to No. 4000. Actual photo of No. 4000 is courtesy of Yeadon’s Register. The kit will be available after Christmas. Price £14.50. D9001
A new suggestion; any chance of the replacement headcode box fitted in 1965 to class 40s numbers D260-D266? They had square corners rather than rounded seen on D345-D399. Better still would be a sort of headcode box“frame” with square corners but which allowed use of the existing headcode box to fit to a Bachmann D345-D399 so the illuminated headcode could still be used. dont want much, do I..................! ovbulleid
Would there be a market for a kit to back-convert the Hornby Q6 from LNER to NER? Not been able to determine what knobs and pipes they had which the LNER ones didn’t.

JaymzHatstand
To really backdate a Q6 would require a full new boiler, as the earlier ones had the bands in (slightly) different positions. I tweaked a Hornby one with a new dome from NorthEastern Kits, and a few other tweaks to roll it back into a pre '46 machine. I didn't adjust the boiler bands, as it would have been a major undertaking. There are some photos on my workbench here; I hope this is of some use! Very much enjoying seeing developments, and now trying to decide which K3 I want to do! Still probably the feedwater variant though! Cheers J

jwealleans
This was a Christmas project - the Hulburd Feed Water Heater applied to a Bachmann K3 I had sitting around. The rest of the loco requires attention, but I'm pleased with the way this went together, despite my inability to follow the instructions. I've added some extra pipework which was apparent in a couple of photos.
Broadway Clive
Another idea for detailing might be for the Hornby D49 Hunt to replicate the rotary cam valves. That should be quite simple compared to what you've done already.

D9001
There’s been discussion on the Hornby A2/3 thread about how it would be great if someone would produce an A2/1 body to fit into the new Hornby A2/3 chassis to create the A2/1. Sounds ds right up your street, niu!

NiuModels
Apologies for being quiet for a while. Just not enough hours in eth day recently to get on here and post update. I'll catch up over the next few days. First update are the Class 17 Clayton Rolls Royce Bonnets. Designed to fit on the Heljan model. First trial print came off the printer today. It needs a few minor amendments then second trial prints. 2

NiuModels
Second test print of the Clayton RR Bonnets. Fit onto the model is good., but still needs a little more work to the profile. The kit will be available at the end of the month. Edited May 18, 2021 by NiuModels
