Heads up for Amtrak fans - 2021 Amtrak turns 50

If you are a fan of Amtrak you may want to start putting some money to the side, there should be a bunch of Amtrak stuff announced/coming out next year to celebrate Amtrak's 50th.

 

White RIver productions will apparently have 2 books on Amtrak coming out next year.

And we have the first Collectors Edition model.

 

Rapido (as part of today's E8A/E8B announcement) are doing a limited edition (only 500 units) of Amtrak's first loco painted in Amtrak colours - an Amtrak black paint scheme E8

 

Comes with certificate and in an etched wood box.

And it's sold out.

 

Rapido expected it would take until February to sell out the 500 units and it took less than 3 days.

Rapido have just sent out an email announcing they are opening up orders for the Amtrak E8 again and they have lifted the 500 unit limit.

 

As this sold out so quickly (many dealers weren't able to get orders in on time, and many Amtrak employees and retirees were unable to get one) Amtrak and Rapido have decided instead to make as many as they get orders for placed by January 15th 2021 end of day.
