Revere Beach, one of the main station on the narrow gauge Boston, Revere Beach & Lynn (originally steam, then electrified):

Was taking a ride on the MBTA Blue Line that morning, so decided to see what the seafront was like there while I was at it.  They still seem to be talking about extending the line back to Lynn at some stage, though given the apparent state of the rest of the MBTA network (as experienced in the 8 days I was in Boston), getting the money might be a challenge!

A shot of the current stock they use on the line, which terminates at Wonderland, one stop beyond Revere Beach.....

Good of you to have included a comfortable-looking cat bed with your layout!

If I might suggest a couple of improvements, how about a cushion and adjacent food and drink containers, possibly disguised as gasometers or similar?

Oh, and is the ballast made from cat litter?

(I said ‘gasometer’ but I’m sure there is a more correct term, which someone here will know)

Boston's Blue line is interesting.  It started out as a streetcar line that went underwater through the East Boston Tunnel (1904). This was converted in 1924, over an extra-long weekend, to a high platform subway system with third rail. The cars were short to go around a loop in downtown. I think there was just one station on the other side. In the 1950s this was extended to Revere Beach. The extension used overhead power.  There is a changeover at Maverick station.

Back on topic:  Marco is sleeping at Dayle's feet, curled up on a once-heated pad.

I remember years ago at Maverick (inbound) watching a train start to pull away before he dropped the pan. The resulting arc (had it been an surface station) could probably be seen in Worcester!

I'm really surprised at this action by Black Country Ales, they quote a refurbishment and hygiene but there are loads of pubs where they have resident house cats, not to mention dogs being allowed in plenty of pubs as well. I do wonder if it's an over re-action to one bad review. The "safer and more fitting environment" bit is rubbish as anyone who has been to the Welly and seen them will know, they are the most contented cats ever!

There's currently two petitions for them to stay, this is the original:

Ludicrous

They are probably cleaner / more hygenic than many of the pubs customers!

One reason that we regularly visit he Wellington is to see the cats as my other half adores cats. When they were younger he tabby cat sat right next to me whilst I ate a cheese roll but didn't do anything more than sit there. They are vey good natured cats. Just have to be careful that you don't let them out the front door.

Petition signed and I am sure that my other half will do the same.

For such a specialised subject for a petition I'm surprised how many people have signed it, nearly 5.5k at the last count.

Many of them may of course be cats..........😺

I do not think that it would do any good for me to sign it, there is too much of a puddle between the pub and my house.

EDIT: I signed/shared anyway.

On a serious note; if I were a regular there, I would let them know that my business will be taken elsewhere.

Remedee has developed a real enthusiasm for outside now, not discouraged, but because she's not been spayed (although I believe not old enough to become in heat) and is still little I have to chaperone her. Unfortunately she is now smart enough to have cottoned on how Mia gets in and out.

And so it was as soon as I left home to visit Dad in hospital on Wednesday I was already regretting not shutting the downstairs window. Like I didn't have enough to worry about, sure enough she was nowhere to be seen when I returned later in the day. With much relief I found her in the back garden and scolded myself whilst fussing her as I carried her back inside.

Mia now has another reason to not like her smaller housemate then, as I have to shut them both inside (or Mia outside) if I leave the property for any length of time. Once titch is spayed of course I shan't have a problem with her going out, once she's learnt the way indoors is the reverse of how to get out!

There’s a reason why the Welly is known as ‘the Smelly Welly’…
