Anyhow I finally managed to get it down her and she's forgiven me... Now for the flea stuff on the back of her neck! It's the difference in attitude between cats and dogs. Both can smell something suspicious. The dog is stupid enough to eat anything he likes the smell of, no matter what it is contaminated with or how much dinner he has already eaten. The cat is quite happy to walk away with his nose in the air if the food is not exactly what he fancies.

steve1
It would help if the pill makers put a suitable flavouring on or in the pill to make the cat want to eat it. steve

I should point out that though Mia was under supervision, bags left lying about for kitty curiosity should have their handles broken or cut, if not for actual harm prevention, moggy might become distressed if caught up. Classsix T
Flea control has always been something of an issue. Tried powder and spot-ons with Roxanne, poor little girl. Powder is messy and horrid stuff, and she seemed to have sensitive skin so collars and the spot on stuff seemed to be like pouring acid on her. The food tablets were a short term solution, the ones that have fleas pinging off two hours later. Mia has the six monthly (Frontline?) jabs. I can't attend to it's efficacy but with as much white fur as she has, I can't remember the last time I found an insect beastie on her. Porkscratching
As regards the pill thing, the worst here is the big tabby, he'll have your finger off if you try anything like that with him....we once tried one of those plastic "pill popper" things..he just bit it in half.....

Clyde had kidney failure, so we knew this day was coming sooner rather than later, but it's still painful. He started going downhill rapidly towards the end of last week, and by Sunday we knew he'd had enough. We took his favourite pillow with us to the vet so he could have something familiar at the end. His sister Bonnie is very confused, she keeps looking for him.

RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted May 18, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 18, 2021 (edited) We’ve got a foster cat with us at the moment who is about 15, lives on a holiday park all his life living off the generosity of the residents, quite happy, popular with everyone, anyway a new manager has come in and decided he doesn’t want him there so got the rescue to pick him up, he’s absolutely heart broken, doesn’t understand why he’s suddenly stuck in a house, keeps disappearing into cubby holes etc, I’ve set up one of our ring cams to capture his movements though, he is coming round a bit The residents of the site started a campaign to get him back, we are all set to take him back to where he belongs but the site owner has said ‘he can come back but he may go missing in the middle of the night’ meaning he will take him and dump him away from the camp as ‘he’s been attacking dogs’ he’s the most docile, placid laid back cat you could ever meet, slow on his feet and despite being confused as to what’s happening at the moment is very affectionate when you can find him, there’s no way he will have attacked anyone unless in self defence he’s even managed to win Lola over, she’s not one for other cats at all but he managed a kiss from her the other night Edited May 18, 2021 by big jim

Cheers, Mick. Thanks for the info. I've just tried it on my smaller cat who's meant to have a daily blood thinner for life. There's no way I can give her a pill directly and had been crushing them to add to her food but she's got wise to that. She just LOVES Easy Pill (no connection other than well satisfied customer). 12
