Like it's 1973 again. It makes me realise how much things have changed even in my lifetime.

Personal opinion, but I always think that the details outside of the railway are just as important as those on it.

They convey a sense of time and place that makes the whole scene convincing.

This street is similar to the one in Hillingdon which was home for me from 1965 to 1967 from age 0 to 2 - not that I remember it much but we have old photos.   In 1973 I turned 8 and was given my first wristwatch - an Ingersoll - and joined the local cub scouts.

Happy days.

Cheers

Funny how an image like that takes you back. It's already got me thinking about 70s Coventry, those concrete street lamps that still had sodium bulbs that gave a sharp bluish light  and noisy buses that always smelt of hot oil and cigarette smoke.

Sounds bad, but I miss it!

Sodium bulbs had an orange light, surely?

Perhaps this is the layover stop - and his girlfriend lives in the terrace?!? 😉

Well spotted that man. I owe you a virtual pint. I shall go back and correct that because those lazy good-for-nothing railway workers are still messing around chatting. Better depth of field on the replacement snap as well so all good in the end.

No doubt someone will pick holes but, to me, THAT is an English Electric Type 3!
