Roller is a modified Oxford Diecast, wagon is scratch built, set on my 4mm model, Janes' Creek, of the Aveling and Porter, Invicta Engineering works at Strood. Before this load could leave the works the chimney and canopy would have to be removed to fit the loading gauge, I have one on my exchange siding, different roller now modified and secured ready to leave on the exchange siding. The poor prototype photo comes from an Aveling and Porter catalogue, wagons on the exchange siding, Strood Steel Works, really a foundry, chimney in the back ground. Copied from the OPC SECR wagon book.

Popular Post Giles
It's a mix of 6, 12 and very fine horse tail (dyed), but all plated by hand, not by the usual static machine - hence the density. RMweb Premium Popular Post fulton Posted July 26 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 26 (edited) "Stackie" hay barge, "Isabel" of Rochester, loaded at Commercial Wharf at the head of Janes' Creek, Strood, on her way to London, main mast has been lowered, to clear the bridges and hay loaded over, the Bow sprit has been temporarily rigged with an easily derigged bridge sail the Mizzen remains in place, two extra crew have been taken on as oarsman, cleaver use will be made of the tides and currents to complete the trip. A massive amount of hay was required to feed all the horses in London.Β 4mm model using the Sarik Hobbies vac form hull, everything else scratch built, on my Janes' Creek layout.
