They would perform better in the smaller scales if the railheads both had the 1:20 inward inclination (Although I suspect that the mass of the vehicle in question would also have a say in it's success.

Even in 16 mm scale. the late Jack Wheldon built all his locos (and very successful they were too) with  a parallel tread to the wheels, with a very small radius into the flange.  I believe the flanges were not tapered either apart from a rounding off of the inner and outer faces at the edge.

I doubt if inclining the rail would make much difference. That's done on the real thing to increase the contact area between the wheels and the rail to reduce wheel and rail wear. Typically that's not a serious problem for modellers 😀

I made this thingy a few years ago to see what happens. While rolling along straight track (no incline) it weaves from side to side as expected although it doesn't want to stay on fairly gentle curves. It's probably just an example of why things tend not to work the same with major differences in scale.

Nor mine, but plenty of other dissolved minerals as the shower heads and the kettle will attest 😀

ISTR a few years ago (premium) property prices in New Zealand were rising faster than anywhere else in the world.  Seen as a modern, democratic, low crime society well away from all the world's disputed regions and conflict zones, many of the world's richest people were buying homes there to retreat to when the next World War starts.

natural stuff - good

There's nothing more 'all natural' than strychnine. Morphine OK, Heroin (diacetyl morphine) less so.

That’s not a corner, this is a corner:

(That’s a 2-6-6-2 Mallet!).

This is my favourite corner. Is outback Australia not wide enough and flat enough that they couldn't find a bit that didnt need an S bend in it?  My alternative thought is that one bunch of blokes was laying the track from right to left, and another lot coming from left to right  and they juuuust missed.

"No worries, get a couple of those curved bits we've got left over in the box, no one will notice!"

And we all laughed at his rabbit warren OO9 plans that came out each Christmas...

Speaking of the Darjeeling Railway, I've a return ticket for a trip my father took on it in 1943.  I know there was a war on, but if there's a railway to ride on...

But, those "dissolved minerals" are made up of various elements, too. And there were none; at least in measurable amounts. And no deposits on the faucets. pots, etc.

I’m afraid that the Darjeeling was never my cup of tea.

A comment for Air Vice Marshall Hunt (Ret); when you say "bang out" of your plane (meaning ejection?), that reminded me that when I was with RVAH-6, the crews referred to ejection as "punch out".

EDIT: An oldie but a goodie;

Should people in the South of England by kettles on defurred terms?

Lorna baked some chocolate chip cookies from a box of Betty Crocker pre-mix (jolly good they were too!)  I was looking at the box and I noticed the flour in it was "enriched" with a lot of nasty chemicals such as folic acid, riboflavin, niacin, and thiamine.

I feel a letter to my MP is in order.

Oh, wait a minute 🙂
