At least painting is indoors.

Unless it's a fence your painting.

Which reminds me.

Praying for rain

True.

You can also do a rain dance as well as pray.

I've found it most effective...

For those wondering why Andy is taking so long over the little bit of painting and decorating, here is his modest pad:

Argh yes I remember it well. Me, pater and mamar would toddle down in the old Bentley from the Smoke to be greeted by the old retainer Polish Andy. Having had our thirteen course supper we'd climb the stairs where our freshly made beds awaited us. Surfacing from the land of nod we'd scamper down stairs where the old retainer would be there to serve us our gourmet breakfast of kippers, bacon, fried eggs, snorkers, devils kidneys, fried tomatoes and baked beans.

Those were the days.

It just happens that I too am painting and no it isn't fresh flower, it's a lighter shade of cherry blossom.

That reminded me that there used to be a brand of shoe polish called Cherry Blossom. Not sure why as it was black or brown.

Martin Chuzzlewit!

The shelf which I require is discontinued.

I've ordered on line and hope it's the right one. The description leaves a lot to be desired.

Tidying and emptying the small bedroom ( current modelling space) continues.

This will be followed by removing / altering the fitted wardrobe ( train cupboard) to turn through 90 degrees, painting the room of course and new furniture to turn it into a part time bedroom / quiet space.

This may take some time.

A load for a tip run early next week is slowly being accumulated in the West wing.

Gardening? Painting? What are these strange mythical creatures of which you speak?

My only attempts at such, decades ago, were so abysmal (not that it was deliberate on my part [ahem], honest! 😳 😁) that Mrs iD insisted that she’d do the gardening and for everything else: GTPI (Get The Professionals In).

A state of play with which I am totally happy. Instead of doing an Arfur Dailey on… well, whatever and taking time away from my day job. I can, instead, lucratively sit through boring teleconferences, getting paid to do not very much as the pros get to work.

As my fees are calculated on an hourly basis, I‘ve estimated that to do a halfway decent job I’d lose in unrealised revenue more than what it would cost to get a pro in (who’d do the job faster and better than me, anyway).

That would be like painting the Forth Bridge.

The last time I renewed my passport a few years ago the quoted turnround time was twelve weeks but in the event I received it in less than three. I wonder if they routinely quote pessimistically to try to minimise the number of complaints they get?

Shock Horror!

I managed to clear the top of the little workbench in the garage for the first time in  a long time.

The same happened to the tool bench along side it.

Of course, I now have to sort through the stuff that was removed and piled on the table🤣

You now have spare space to clear the table to................

I don’t know where the base image was lifted from, but it looks like Belton House, just north of my old home town.

Those house building companies use the same generic plans just tweaked for the particular development so could be anywhere.

It's the wrong colour.

As far as DH's skirting board, can't you just cut out the rotten bit and hide the gap with the fridge?

Or

Find some that is close in profile and shape it to match.

Andy

Bodging it and proud. But not where you can see it.

Under the ballast mainly.

Mrs SM42 is buying me dinner.

She has a voucher for the local pub apparently.

I can't help thinking there is an ulterior motive in play.

Sadly no to either Andy. The rot has spread along the board to the bit that is visible and the profile and finish is unique to the board already fitted. Hence the flooring people are coming on Monday to see exactly what is required.

That's a helluva voucher if it gets the local pub. What will she do with it after dinner?

That can't be Polish Andy. There are far too many colours on his overall - there should really only be Fresh Flour surely.

Milliput is great for reprofiling. Aditi asked if I could repair a terracotta strawberry pot and I said why not get a new one until she told me how much the damaged one had cost.

Point A was eventually overcome by the use of several bodged up bits of equipment, some very naughty words and loss of some skin.

How on earth did the Mohel from a past post suddenly become involved?
