Me, pater and mamar would toddle down in the old Bentley from the Smoke to be greeted by the old retainer Polish Andy. Having had our thirteen course supper we'd climb the stairs where our freshly made beds awaited us. Surfacing from the land of nod we'd scamper down stairs where the old retainer would be there to serve us our gourmet breakfast of kippers, bacon, fried eggs, snorkers, devils kidneys, fried tomatoes and baked beans. Those were the days. 1 1 11

RMweb Premium SM42 Posted January 25 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 25 Martin Chuzzlewit! The shelf which I require is discontinued. I've ordered on line and hope it's the right one. The description leaves a lot to be desired. Tidying and emptying the small bedroom ( current modelling space) continues. This will be followed by removing / altering the fitted wardrobe ( train cupboard) to turn through 90 degrees, painting the room of course and new furniture to turn it into a part time bedroom / quiet space. This may take some time. A load for a tip run early next week is slowly being accumulated in the West wing. Andy 2
iL Dottore
Gardening? Painting? What are these strange mythical creatures of which you speak? My only attempts at such, decades ago, were so abysmal (not that it was deliberate on my part [ahem], honest! 😳 😁) that Mrs iD insisted that she’d do the gardening and for everything else: GTPI (Get The Professionals In). A state of play with which I am totally happy. Instead of doing an Arfur Dailey on… well, whatever and taking time away from my day job. I can, instead, lucratively sit through boring teleconferences, getting paid to do not very much as the pros get to work. As my fees are calculated on an hourly basis, I‘ve estimated that to do a halfway decent job I’d lose in unrealised revenue more than what it would cost to get a pro in (who’d do the job faster and better than me, anyway). RMweb Premium Popular Post Dave Hunt Posted January 25 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 25 This morning it was discovered that the skirting alongside the fridge in our kitchen is going rotten. Deep investigation was carried out and it was discovered that the drain at the back of the fridge, instead of directing the water onto a drying pad over the motor housing was dislodged and the water was instead finding its way to the side and dripping onto the skirting, hence the rot. Not a major problem except that: A. In their wisdom, Bosch arranged it so that relocating the drain was as near to impossible as they could manage for anyone not equipped with hands less than two inches wide and with at least three wrist joints. B. The skirting is specific to the floor covering and is thus only available through the firm who installed the floor covering. Point A was eventually overcome by the use of several bodged up bits of equipment, some very naughty words and loss of some skin. How the damned thing became dislodged in the first place is a dark mystery. Point B now awaits a visit from the flooring people who have promised to try to attend next Monday. In the meantime the fridge is sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor as I have refused to move it in and out of its home among the kitchen units multiple times until the situation is resolved. We do have fun don't we? Dave

As far as DH's skirting board, can't you just cut out the rotten bit and hide the gap with the fridge? Or Find some that is close in profile and shape it to match. Andy Bodging it and proud. But not where you can see it. Under the ballast mainly. 5

The rot has spread along the board to the bit that is visible and the profile and finish is unique to the board already fitted. Hence the flooring people are coming on Monday to see exactly what is required. Dae
