RMweb Gold Happy Hippo Posted July 21, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 21, 2023 (edited) That's a handy looking bottle. I now have to approach NHY 581 on the delicate matter of how many and what type of sheep I should populate the green bit on Pantmawr North. Bearing in mind it's geographical location, that section between the retaining wall and the backscene, cries out for for a couple of his ovine acquaintances. Modelu do a nice flock, but they may be a bit plump and fluffy compared to the downright scrawny, violent and grubby scavengers that terrorise the local inhabitants of the Efflew Valley: Edited July 21, 2023 by Happy Hippo 10 1

I could see how giving this medication this way could benefit the NHS, especially given that there would be the option – depending on patient and patient attitude – of not removing the packaging before administration! 🤣 Those boxes have sharp corners, or so I've been told. 3 hours ago, NHY 581 said: Just gave this a go and thought I'd report back on a couple of points. Neither, the colliery management would much prefer it if they kept well away from the wagons, as they lift the axle box covers with their snouts and lick out the grease. This causes nasty cases of hot box on the run down to the docks at Cardiff Now you know why they are black face sheep. Greedy little sods. 2 1 2

The Modelu ones must surely be from Surrey, or somewhere they are equally pampered? They need to get themselves to the outskirts of Blaenau Ffestiniog - though I wouldn' t give much for their chances of getting an animal to co-operate with the scanning process! CJI. RMweb Premium Popular Post Dave Hunt Posted July 21, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 21, 2023 Today a friend visited to have a look at my layout. He owns what we think is the first 7mm scale model locomotive made to run on 33mm gauge track, although the wheel profile is slightly different from today's S7 standards, and was built in about 1960 by Bernard Miller using parts machined and pantograph milled by Ron Spiers. Since he doesn't have any S7 track he wanted to see whether it would run on my layout, the answer being yes on plain track but since the back to back measurement is very slightly less than currently used (by about 0.25mm) it hesitates a bit travelling over pointwork because the backs of the tyres rub on the check rails. Also the flanges are fractionally deeper by about 0.25mm so where I have ballasted almost up to rail level it catches occasionally. However, it does run and since it is a Midland Railway Johnson 0-6-0 it looked right at home. Just before leaving he astonished me by saying, "Would you like to keep it? I'd rather it lived where it will be on display in an appropriate setting rather than sitting in its box in my cupboard." His own layout is M&SWJ O Gauge finescale. To say I was surprised would be an understatement, particularly as he said that he wouldn't mind if I wanted to turn the wheels to match current S7 profile. Thus I am now in proud possession of an excellent model with a place in railway modelling history. Dave 15
