@SM42 have you tried the Parkside LNER grain hopper that is really atrocious.

I think Peco are ‘fixing’ it before it is re-released.

The Parkside Grain is I believe still in the ‘retooling area’. There was an early sample at Warley 2019 that looked quite different (more refined) from the kit. At that time the 13T hopper tooling was shown too as a 3D print. The early Parkside kits are the lower numbers and were the first tooling from the early 80’s and there may have been an Ian Kirk connection there too.

The kit however is one of those that gives huge satisfaction when you fight one (or three) into submission.

I detect a theme creeping - that's if you call a half mile wide swarthe of LDC destruction, in.

PB and DH would be responsible for that.

I will only hold my hand up to the great Welsh Cake and Bara Brith massacre.

May I make a claim for the rights to Bread Pudding and Lardy Cake?

Of course.

We'll leave Jamie picking the flies out of Eccles Cakes, whilst Olddudders can put us all to shame with a continual flow of French pastries.

Flavio has the Toblerone.

Anyone else need to stake their claim in this tooth rotting expedition?

I've seen a certain close relative of mine eat Greek baclava with extra honey on it, which I think would qualify as having sweetness measuring 11 on a scale of 0 - 10. Just looking at it made me feel ill.

I can do better than Toblerone:

Sprüngli!

https://www.spruengli.ch/en/shop/luxemburgerli/luxemburgerli-konfigurator.html?_lang=1&_lang_code=en-GB&mijoshop_store_id=0

But you'll need deep pockets (https://www.spruengli.ch/en/shop/chocolates-truffle/bonbonniere-deluxe-green-115-pcs.html) about £225

I built a good few Parkside 4 mm scale kits and soon discovered that there is a strong correlation between kit number and quality. The last kits released by Parkside Dundas are among the finest plastic wagon kits around - the series of RCH 1923 Specification mineral wagons, for example, and the LMS cattle wagon.

I think some of the re released early stuff has the same number with letter after it.  IIRC

I tend to look at the pictures or description rather than the product number.

Somewhere I have some pink card topped kits.

These may have been ex Kirk kits and thus very early releases under the Parkside name.

I think I may own an unbuilt kit from each of the pre Peco eras

I thought you wrote Greek balaclava.

I thought my hearing was going a few days ago, and now I think I might need my eyes testing again.

Surely somebody here is going to claim deep fried mars bars?

Me?  I claim all the Christmas cake with cheese you care to send.
And it’s still before twelfth night so no bad luck either.

Quite appropriately I read that whilst listening to Pinball Wizard by The Who. Made I chuckle it did.

A piece of good moist Christmas cake with a slice of Stilton is among the foods of the gods. One Christmas when I was in the Falklands, a colleague's mother sent down a large cake and a whole Colston Basset Stilton, which arrived on Christmas eve and lived in the crewroom for several weeks. The rule was that it could only be eaten when returning from a sortie and each night the cheese was fed a glass of port. It was one of the things that made life bearable down there.

It's the simple things in life that make all the difference especially when you're far from home.
