They aren't as good as someone like Larry would have done but are OK. Painting is something that causes me more stress than anything else in modelling and it isn't unknown for me to take three attempts before I get a decent finish. If I tell Jill that I'm going to paint a model her usual response is, "In that case I'm going out. Give me a ring when you've finished." Dave One of the advantages of a S Wales Valleys' fleet of pannier tank engines is that with the exception of one or two 64 xx, they are all finished in unlined black! There is a rumour doing the rounds that in the time it took Dave to paint his Midland compound, Jill had gone off and done a world cruise. 1

Just had to buy four new tyres for the car Aditi’s Ford has a summer set and a winter set so seem to last longer! Mine are W speed rated, large, low profile with reinforced sidewalls. After buying tyres for the previous car I look online before I shop so I can appear to be relaxed at the tyre garage. This car will also probably need a TPMS service kit for each wheel too. The recent trip for MoT and annual service came with a list of tyre suggestions and main dealer prices. I smiled politely.

They also had the tyres available for 8.30 this morning although I only phoned them yesterday late afternoon. Must be honest still amazed that the car did 21000 miles before it needed its first service. First car I had a, five year old 1966 Austin 1100, seemed to need a service every other week. 8

Funnily enough the cheapest quote was from Halfords, who came and fitted them to the car on our drive rather than having to go out and spend ages hanging around a tyre depot. 6

My mother's Imp (1973) had a nominal 5,000 mile service interval but ran like a box of spanners after 4,000. I think that their 1965 Mini was 3,000 mile.

Mind you, they can be kicking out the wrong (or right, depending on your personal nutcase rating) side of 200bhp....

RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted December 11, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 11, 2020 I had a BSA C15 that needed servicing after even a short trip. Oil changes were almost constant due to drips. My final motorbike a Honda CB 250N looked perfect when I did the first year service. The Evoque has a one year or some ridiculously large mileage service interval, whichever comes first. It came with a 5 year service plan so they can have back as often as they like. It gets cleaned then.
