P.C.M
My Aunt Ethel, god bless her, was coming to stay with us in North Wales and was directed by a railman to her train in the days when there was a service starting from Stalybridge. It was a doodlebug-nodding donkey-call it what you will and she thought it must be a mistake as it didn't look like the kind of train she imagined would take her on a longish journey. After some reassurance she settled down at the front and started knitting. The trains set off for North Wales and I leave the 'picture' to your imagination as stitch after stitch was dropped and my poor aunt struggled to hold back language she was perfectly aware of but had rarely used since the air raids.... Hi Larry, They were used on some long distant services which I don't think they were suitable for but that's progress I guess. Hopefully I can get mine running a bit better, I will have to run a loco hauled train until then. Cheers Peter.
RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted May 14, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 14, 2013 Hi Dave, Did you do anything with the motors I think someone does a remoter kit Iight look into that. Cheers Peter. Hi Peter, No, they still have the originals. They've been slowed down with programming of the decoder, but other than that nothing. signal box
P.C.M
Thanks Dave, I have been out to the garage tonight and Played about with the driving wheels, there is less side movement in them now and it seems a bit better. Cheers Peter .
P.C.M
It's been a while since an update but I have been getting thins done, lack of laptop has made it harder to post but I found the time to load some pics onto the wife's laptop. first up I have weathered up a Marina, my dad owed a few of these and later an Ital which I learnt to drive in. My two Hornby powered Lima 101s have now been chipped and run really well after having no luck with Gaugemaster decoders I was advised to fit Hornby ones which seem to have worked. 08695 has also been fitted with a Zimo sound chip and sugar cube speaker in the nose, it sounds pretty good. I have also been working on a tunnel mouth for the new senic section useing wills stone sheets. A couple of low level shots taken with the phone. Cheers Peter.
SRman
That Marina captures the look of one on its last legs very well indeed, Peter. All it needs now is a piano dropped on it!! ;-) I'll be very interested in hearing that Clayton too. Lovely modelling, as always, Peter. Keep up the brilliant work. I have a biffo chip in my class 33 too though I think there is a new improved version coming out. Cheers Peter.

RMweb Gold bcnPete Posted May 28, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 28, 2013 (edited) From memory most marina's were getting pretty tatty by the mid 80s I know my dads was. It just dawned on me that one of the guys i used to go to college with had a Marina in exactly that colour...so that's why it struck a chord...although his scrubbed up a little better once through the car wash... I wondered about the Clayton!! Still, I haven't heard an 08 with sound 'in the flesh' yet either. Coincidentally, I have just ordered a class 33 biffo decoder from DC Kits. That will give me four 33s with sound from three different suppliers.

Cav Thanks Cav,I have done some wing mirrors on a Capri and a couple of Escorts but that's it so far, Marinas and some of my other older cars need the older round type does anyone do an etch? RMweb Premium Physicsman Posted May 29, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 29, 2013 Hi Peter. Your photos in post #2057 really struck a chord with me. I learned to drive in my grandad's Marina - which was "Sandglow" - the colour of your model. My dad had 3 Marinas from 1972 - 1984. The 1980 model had a superb 1800 engine, but the bodywork was rubbish. Keep the photos coming! Jeff

CV63 controls the master volume on ESU decoders. If it is a v4 chip then volume can go between 0 and 192; if a v3.5 volume goes between 0 and 64. Arnington
Hi Peter, I echo the comments on the Marina it looks superb. My dad also had one when i was young and all i remember was how it broke down constantly and how hot the vinyl on the seats would get if you parked it in the sun for to long! Cheers Arnie

lmsforever
Agree with all the Marina comments I drove one for a short time and regreted it ,every pothole caused bouncing and rolling plus it did break down regularily .The model looks good and a good addition to the layout. I had a coupe version of the Marina in the same colour as shown. It was very useful for me as I had just got my first signalling job working at Hinckley- which was an LNWR type 4 box. Think Mr45144 was with me when it got written off in wet weather.
